Yes all seems normal,just spins. Anyway iv'e ordered a new top mount and bearing FEBI brand. I will get a new shock absorber and get that changed also,as it has to come off anyway. Any idea or link to where i can buy the metal top mount from,just incase it's worn underneath?

I was checking the top strut nut under the bonnet as i hear a slight noise now and then. The nut is just turning even when i put an allen key in the middle to hold it? Is it a quick fix or has the strut got to be fully removed and replaced with new parts? The other top strut nut is tight.

I've owned my puma from new 1999,so 19 years. The mileage was 161,000 before it lost compression on one of the cylinders. I've just had another engine fitted so hopefully, it will last me a few years if I don't sell it next year.

Hi, Iv'e got 20 lts of fully synthectic 5W-30 engine oil that i bought whilst my engine drank it. It's the same specification as Ford Formula F. I now have a better engine fitted and i'm going to use 5W-40. £35 West midlands. SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!

Damn, if this post was on here a week earlier, I would of had it off you. My engine has packed up and im forking out £800 to get another engine fitted this week. Good luck.

Hopefully I'll get my puma back within a week or so with another engine fitted plus some new bits, Timing belt Water pump etc.

Just an update. it's no longer for sale as i'm getting an engine fitted,so i'll be keeping my pride and joy that ive owned for 19 years. :grin:

The time has come to finally sell my Puma. I bought it new from Ford so I'm the only owner. Good points The rear arches have been done professional a while back, please see the link below for details. Its had a new LuK clutch fitted about 5 months ago. New water pump Aux belt and tensioner...

I will ask the garage that did the test as i don't know the actual set up they used. I was just told there was no compression in cylinder 2.

Thanks Red, i hope so, I just need as much information as possible about the engine swap as it will be the garage doing it, so who better to ask than the good folks on here. I don't want to buy an engine then find out that I needed all the wiring and ecu and other bits and bobs for it to work.

((MY INPUT)) As already said, any 1.7 engine itself will drop in, difference only in A/C & powersteering up.. Don't worry about ECU and wiring keep everything in its place Have your current clutch put in new engine... (personally I would keep 'gearbox' unless guaranteed low mileage on the next)...

Ok update, The engine is knackered,no compression on cylinder 2. I dont think its a good idea for me to waste money having it fixed as its done 160,000 and i don't know what damage has been caused. So i think my best option is to find another engine to drop in. My puma is a 1.7 Year 1999, so...
