I have the same mate. had 2 different pumas now and the same on both. Like you described its a grinded noise and doesn't feel very safe lol. I'll be trying new disks and pads and see how it goes.

the thermostat sits inside the rubber gasket then that sits flush inside.

Oh for the love of god. Took bloody ages to get the drain plug off, shearing all the skin off my thumb hitting the garage floor it was that tight. Next the filter was not hand tight unless the incredible hulk put it on. Anyway got there in the end. I had to leave to pick the misus us 5 mins...
