What an idiot, today I have locked myself out of the car with the keys and the dog in the boot. Used the fob to pop the boot, dumped everything in my hands in the boot to lift the dog in, was distracted by someone, and shut the boot.

The cars locked, the boot's shut, and the car was double locked when I locked it last so seems to be deadbolted. Which means the first locksmith who came couldn't open it by hooking the door handle (he kindly didn't charge me).

Is there no unlock button/switch inside the car? Can you trap someone forever by double locking them in the car? What a pain.

Good luck! I once had this happen to me at a festival campsite in Germany. Crawling out of my tent hungover wearing only a boxer short. Imagine having to walk 3km's to a nearby garage and showing up there in your underpants. And then a quad ride with a guy in leathers and me on the back... Past thousands of people.
He managed to open it through the window though.

Jubei700,
Hi, this is probably too late for you now, but on YouTube, I saw this method of opening a car window - officially sanctioned by US Police! 🤭

cop opens car window with plungers - Google Search

Of course if you or anybody else got this to work on your Puma, with deadlocking on, you'd still have to climb through the window and remove the parcel shelf from inside to get into boot for the keys!

Lots of licks from grateful doggie! 😁

Also, I'm not sure if it was just an Urban Myth, but supposedly cars central locking could be unlocked by a sharp bump against front or rear bumpers, simulating a bump! That was supposed to be a safety feature, to help people get out, or be rescued, following a bump.

Hi,

I once did this, the AA man somehow powered up the windows, gently levered the window frame and the opened the door, but had to lift up parcel shelf to get keys that were in the boot,

Thankfully the second locksmith who was an automotive key specialist had a Tibbe pick and picked the driver's door unlocked. He wasn't 100% confident and it took a few minutes, just because it's old and stiff and doesn't get used. He checked the passenger door lock and immediately gave up on that one, saying he didn't think a key had ever been put in it. I then got him to cut me a spare non-transponder key so next time I can at least open the door. An expensive mistake though.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted.

Yeah, glad you got it open. At least you have a spare now. Do NOT put that spare on the same keyring as your normal one though :ROFLMAO: (y)
The locksmith told me he'd attended another lockout recently - same deal, locked the keys in the car - where they did have a spare key. They kept their spare key in the glove box...
