Nice driving!

It was a great day yesterday, got a few good vids which I'll post up once i can do a spot of editing.
After a slightly damp start i shaved about 5 seconds (maybe more, i wasn't timing!) off my lap tomes through the day.
my best lap was about 1m 55s.
Went out late on for a "balls to the wall" shootout with my whole group together and after going last in the group came in first ;-)
I found the track to be good on tyres, fuel and brakes.

Excellent Stu, Love the video and some great speed there. Glad you like Cadwell, its one of our favourites too. You had some good weather - looking forward to the other videos - hope we get weather like that on the 31st

Hi Nick. at the start of the day, when it was damp I clocked my speed at 75 through Coppice, by half four I was hitting the ton on the apex (and I`d collapsed a rear bush over the day).
Once the track was dry I was lapping at 2.02, end of day 1.57. That`s two up of course, in our little race I was on my own in the car and clocked 1.55.
The weather couldn`t have been better Stephen, warm and dry.
The chap at the place we stayed said it had been p___ing down earlier in the week.
I found a top place to stay for Cadwell btw. 2 miles away, all you need self catering £50/room. A group arrived from Devon who were on track too.

The day did end on a sour note as a Mx5 ended up up-side down in the tyrewall!
The guy was ok thankfully, he was seen with his head in his hands walking along the barrier. (the car wasn`t)
That was at ten to five and ended play for everyone

ouch for the MX5 driver, must admit I've seen the most amount of crashes at Cadwell with quite a few big ones.

Some great lap times Stu, especiall two up. Were you trying the old trail braking trick.

Coppice is one of my fave corners that I try to do flat out

With semi slicks I`d not think about backing off till I was well past the apex at coppice, great bend.
I tried trait braking at Rockingham (nowt to hit if you balls it up) and slewed around with a huge smile.
Here I was treating the place with a little more respect.
My car still has a scar from Febuary at Oulton and I think of it every time I see armco!

Another vid. This one is the red Escort getting a lesson (again!)
then a clear run till a Rx8 decided to rearrange the tyrewall, I pass the crash at the end of the video. Guy was ok and actually got the car back onto track (late PM!)

I guess people have seen but some great £99 deals coming up in Dec on Javelin:

Bedford GT on 1st
Brands Hatch Indy on 2nd
Cadwell on 7th (and its a Sunday)

Any been to Woodbridge? I know its an airfield but its same distance as Bedford from me and I've only just come across it, £99 there for 16th Nov too.

Javelin have bumped the price of their Donington gig on 30/11 UP by twenty quid!
it makes Blyton the week before for £70 less a more viable option.
See you there Noobrider..

I did a trackday at Woodbridge last year and a fantastic day, a few pros and cons below.

Pros;
Amazing technical infield.
Always cheap, i paid £99 for the day last August
2 long straights to get you focus and energy back for the infield sections.
Extreme amount of run off, the worst thing you will spin off into is a few over grown weeds and a few cones.
A small raised section in the first infield section which keeps you on your feet.

Cons;
Mixture of surfaces, smooth concrete, rough concrete and Tarmac.
Semi slick tyres are not permitted as they get ripped to shreds with the various surface types.
Stone chips, the track dosent have a road sweeper and be propead to have your car come back in stone chips.

Do you fancy doing another trackday before Christmas Neil?

I would like too mate but I'm having about £850-£900 worth of work going into the car in the next few days and I need to think about Christmas.

Possibly if its a £99 jobby

Heres a vid from the Cadwell Park trackday last week.
I`m chasing my mate down in his MG then I get a few clean laps before the usual morning red flag..

I really really liked Cadwell and I recon that as it available a week later than my planned Blyton visit for an extra £20, I`m gonna have another crack

It`s 29/11 if anyone wants to join me they`d be welcome.
It`s organised through opentrack events £129 opl

Well Brands Hatch Indy yesterday was a psychology battle, it chucked it down all day till about half 3 / quarter to 4 when the light started to fade. About 10 red flags throughout the day, not many actual crashes, I do remember an R32 going sideways into the tyrewall at Druids. Tuition Session I had early on really helped with the lines, the water spray from tyres was scary at times while closing in. Was difficult to judge the limits with standing water (especially at the dip of Paddock Hill Bend) so never really pushed it, need to go back and do it in the dry.

I took a mini HD camcorder then remembered it was the suction type so not allowed but I'll get another mount or fix something up for next time.

One thing I hadn't seen at other tracks was that brands have big rectangular lights rather than flags which was particularly helpful especially given the poor visibility.

Aaron's dad spun his FRP at paddock hill taking it into the gravel trap, was about 2 hours till the stones were cleared from the calipers and wheel rim which gave the tyre a slow puncture, but I had a passenger ride later on and the RPJ suspension cornered crazy flat even with the increase in ride height!

My car performed well, however I did blow my exhaust before the end of day, think its the 4-2-1 but haven't seen the extent of the damage yet, it is F*****G loud!

MSVT will have the pro photos up tomorrow.

Niceone grayfox - our day at Cadwell was equally eventful as per my seperate thread. Discovered a bit of damage on the Puma as well, cracked wishbone - it started making a loudish crack on the right hander after Coppice but I ignored it - checked it out on the ramps on Saturday

HI Nick. about your wishbone.
My mates Escort gave up a wishbone at Rockingham in August.
The thing actually folded and we had a real mission getting home thats night (well, he did  )
He bought genuine parts and when fitting them he found the genuine ones were 2kg heavier than the shite Chinese things that were fitted.
Most of the parts I have fitted are cheap as i can get. but for major stuff like suspension..
They might be twice the price, But genuine is the way to go with these parts.

Yeah, I get most of my Ford bits from Leeds Unique who are Ford wholesalers. The wishbones are the original ones that came on the car when I bought it so I don't know if they are genuine.

I've also got two noisey rear wheel bearings now? At least they are cheap

Hi Rudders, I certainly want a crack at Croft.
It`ll be next year before I get there though.

I`ll be starting a 2015 meet thread soon so watch out and there`ll be someone interested in teaming up with you...
