    The end?

Drove at the weekend, the car was evidently out of water/ coolant. Stopped at some lights, engine smoking. Now won’t start - ‘no compression’ according to the AA guy. Additionally I can’t open the bonnet now for some reason. Is this the end? Has the head gasket gone and the head potentially...

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Good point. I need to methodically check headlights, brake lights, interior light, heated rear window etc. for instance, the clock works as does the radio. Don’t think the fog light switch lights up though. I need to check, cross red with the fuse list and talk it through with an electrician

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

So there are 2 ways to go 1. Take out instrument cluster, courier to company that repairs them (£125 + VAT) then put it back in the car 2. Buy an old instrument cluster (with ideally less miles on the clock than mine) and replace existing one. If anyone has any thoughts I’d appreciate the input...

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Thanks. I’ve just looked at that thread. I wonder how long it would take an electrician to swap the instrument cluster? The guy I spoke to couldn’t remember the last time he did one but said it might be 2 hours

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Thanks. Even with a digital mileometer? No recoding? That’s made me slightly hopeful. There seem to be instrument clusters available from Germany on eBay

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

My garage says (on the phone) it’s likely to be the instrument panel itself. If so it would need to be sent away for testing and this in itself is potentially £££ If you can swap out the instrument panel (?) does the replacement need decoding/ recoding? I hope this isn’t it (the last straw) for...

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Fuse 2 is fine. Central Locking works. Curses!

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Thanks. Replaced fuse 55 and now the LCD clock works and the radio has power but the dashboard is still out. Is there another fuse I need to look at or is this a bigger problem?

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Is it this one? (55 - Main power supply to vehicle electrical system - 60A) Can I just pull it out and replace with a 60A fuse from Halfords?

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Thanks. It’s a 2001. So will it be under the bonnet, at the top in a box near the windscreen? Are the fuses labelled?

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Also the fuel gauge. The whole dashboard is dead.

No power to speedo/ mileometer/ rev counter/ radio

Hi, Suddenly today the speedometer/ mileometer/ rev counter/ dashboard lights/ radio/ rear window heater/ fog light have no power. I’ve located the fuses behind the storage well on the driver side. Please can anyone tell me which fuses I need to look at? Presumably if they’ve blown it points to...

Puma’s Getting older... A few issues

MOT passed first time!! Advisory on the oil leak. Garage said difficult for them to work out where it’s coming from. I think they need to clean the engine exterior in order to see where it’s spraying from, and they didn’t have the right equipment. Does this sound right? Going to try and sort...

Puma’s Getting older... A few issues

Hi, My 2001 Black Puma is still going but bit by bit things are starting to deteriorate. Still drives nicely but... y’know. Did a £500 welding session 2 years ago so I know about rust. Replaced clutch, tires, and brake stuff but wondered what’s next and how long it might have left. Got the MOT...
