FRP map without cams?

Standard engine will work fine with an FRP ECU/MAP.

Adding the cams, inlet etc. will make a difference but the best gains will be with all of it together.

Putting the cams/inlet with out the MAP I don't think would make a big difference.

Thanks Cherie

I didn't want to start another thread for it to be deleted as a duplicate or something!

'Trimming' a thread

I have a project thread in the 'Other vehicles' section. Is there a way I can remove/delete/trim a lot of the posts as they are no longer relevant to my current project and thanks to Photobucket none of the pictures exist any more!? The original vehicle the project was started with has since been di...

Puma Thunder

Hi and welcome Graphite Grey? They were Magnum Grey or Silver..? Unless you live somewhere different to me.. I had a 2002 Thunder and unfortunately it rusted like it's life depended on it. For some reason the later/newer models seemed to rust a lot quicker and worse than the earlier ones. I ca...

front wheel/s not turning

I left my Fiesta in a garage for quite a few months (some of which were over the winter) and I had trouble pushing it out. That also felt like a seized brake or thought I had left it in gear. It moved eventually after almost popping a vein! Since replacing the battery and getting it started it drive...

A/C plug

Hi Richard

Yes, anything from a Fiesta as long as the plug is the correct size/shape.

Looking at my spare engine, it looks like the same plugs are used on the alternator and injectors too!

A/C plug

The dreaded broken wires Richard..? If it's what I think you are describing that'll be the connector on the power steering pressure switch... they are prone to breaking! I could be mistaken but I'm sure I used the same shape connector from somewhere else on the car but let me verify that first. EDIT...

Saab turbocharger

I have a T25 turbocharger from a Saab 900 (94-98) & 9-3 (98-99). https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4580/24267732138_c0943cdffe_c.jpg The centre core has been turned to roughly match the correct angle for fitment to a standard Puma/Fiesta manifold. Also fitted with an AN banjo fitting and an AN-4 teflon...

engine temperature high

When the fan starts on high speed there is a sudden demand on the electrical system which makes the engine revs drop. At this point the ECU should compensate by adjusting the timing/fueling to bring the revs back up to normal. I would probably get the battery and alternator checked/load tested as a ...

Maybe something like this...:

Or if there is a body kit adhesive called Tiger Seal. It isn't cheap but it'll stick s**t to a blanket!

Any decent quality aftermarket makes to look out for?
Not sure to be honest as they aren't something I've deal with, so to speak.

As for water pump, if you can't buy genuine I'd go for a good quality aftermarket item.

Puma’s Getting older... A few issues

The boot gas strut on one side is used as an earth. The strut will have connectors on it for the wires to connect to. Pretty sure it's the earth for the boot brake light... :ok:

Puma’s Getting older... A few issues

On the rear boot, get some scotch-brite-like material and make sure the rear copper contacts are clean. Also, I think the contact for the boot open/ajar is actually spring loaded and should move down if you press it. If not it could be jammed in the upper position making the car think the boot is o...

Puma’s Getting older... A few issues

Hi T 1. Possible leaking rocker cover gasket, leaking oil on to exhaust manifold. REPLACE GASKET? 2. Broken bonnet switch or faulty switch on boot catch. CHECK BONNET SWITCH, CHECK ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ON BOOT CATCH? 3. Possible bad earth. Pretty sure the wiper is earthed through the boot pins. REMO...

Puma 1.6L Euro 4 compliance?

Have a look here:

https://carfueldata.vehicle-certificati ... -cars.aspx

According to that, my 1.6l 2002 Fiesta is Euro4

It looks like the 1.7 Pumas are only Euro2!

Hello

If you had to use WD40 to free the lock then ideally you should lubricate it to reduce the chance of it seizing again.

WD40 isn't strictly a proper lubricant although it has lubricating properties that derive from dissolving components but this lubrication doesn't actually last.

I wondered if i was going to get some stick on here for using a running puma as a donor Hmm... I wouldn't say you would get 'some stick' as it were but I get the impression some members seem to be a bit... protective over the Puma and don't necessarily agree with people using Puma parts on other ca...
