Project Plus 100CC (1.6 to 1.7 swap)

Cable to fuel tank?
That stays where it is, you shouldn't need to do anything with that as it's part of a different loom.
No need to drop fuel tank.

Are you getting confused with the rear abs loom? This runs to back of car also and finishes up near fuel tank.

Considering a Puma - do they *all* rust?

Yep pretty much, none of them are exempt from rust. But saying that, it's the same for nearly any 20+ year old car

OE Alloy Gear Knob made from?

Good question, I do not know. Hopefully not nickel as it's a nice knob to touch. Like touching knobs do you? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ You should have seen the posts a few years back when someone said they would start polishing them for people.... Someone seriously turned up here offering to polish peoples knobs?!...

Fitting FRP Piper cams issue

Won't the usual 1.7 timing tool fit?
The ends of those Piper cams look the same as the standard ford cams to me?

Looking to buy - acceptable levels of rust?

Wow, the extent of the rust is always worse than it initially appears. I suppose it's a risk I'll be taking with that wheel arch. What was the cost of that repair? I've also realised that this car I'm looking at hasn't had a cambelt change since 2011, however it's only done 5k miles since then. Is ...

Looking to buy - acceptable levels of rust?

Alot of the pumas are over 20 years old now, as with most cars of this age rust is going to be present. I would say your going to have to settle for the best you can find rather than a rust free example. You really need to get underneath and have a proper good poke around with a screwdriver. My fies...

Those wires on mine connect into the bottom of the fan housing for the rad. It's possibly a capacitor for the fan motor?
It's definitely something to do with the fan but I'm not exactly sure what.

Fuel pump fuse is 10A fuse in engine bay fuse box, Are you hearing the 'whirring' noise when the ignition is turned to position 2? This will tell you if the pump is priming before you attempt to start the car. I've had this issue before after being parked up over winter, Sometimes it would blow a fu...

Nice project, That's guna be quite challenging I bet, the fiesta mk5 shares alot of wiring with the puma and may be more easily available? we had a sportka for a good 5 years. What a cool little car it was, I really liked it alot ( although it was a bit girly). Only got rid as needed a bigger car. I...

Sad times

The focus is a good car, had ours (exactly same model as yours) 5 years now and even with high mileage it's only ever needed service items and a wheel straightened out!

Nice one, I've been looking at doing this myself. Were the mk3 bolt holes for the servo the same as the pumas? So other than the wiring for the plug and the brake lines it should be a straight swap? I've noticed the newer MK4 master cylinder is cheaper to buy and the connections for the brake lines ...

My Puma (formally pictures at last)

Seen a neighbour having a windscreen replaced the other day, not a puma admittedly. There were 2 guys using a razor wire looking tool, one person inside the car and one outside, they ran it all the way round in a sawing motion to cut through the sealant. I would really have a think about it though, ...

Hi, I have been very busy flashing the cash. My Puma is coming up to 140k now the engine still pulls well is smooth and quite. Any way I purchase a used engine with 27k on it in June. I had it fitted with as many new bits as possible, clutch, belts, water pump, all new oil seals, injectors, a/c com...

What is the new brake setup like Vs the original, is the rear disc setup noticeable?

And what are the chances of a guide for doing the conversion with a parts list......😁
