1.7 Rev Limiter
Unplugging the speedo is not going to change anything (other then disabling the torque limiter & disabling the speedo). The restriction is RPM, if you want more speed, the simplest solution would be to change your 5th gear, my car will go up to 175 now (I don't have the balls to go there :? ) I can ...

355979 355959 Yes I could just turn the power down, but I just don't want to!! Never surrender!  That's the spirit mate!! Ok so I got a reply about the Darton sleeves. Firstly, as the crack is all the way through to the coolant gallery so I'd need a new block anyway. But the price for ...

The crack must be all the way through to the coolant port, that's how the coolant was getting into the cylinder, and how the coolant leaked into the sump. There isn't another viable ford option for me, the Zetec is a great engine but it's too heavy for what I want, the duratec can't handle the power...

Thanks guys, but it think im going to need something a tad stronger then plugs and uprated gaskets. The good news is that the ARP bolts and cometic gasket seem to have held up just fine. I havent taken the head off yet but i think i may have found the issue  http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/...

 unfortunately so mate, it could be as simple as a head gasket, but I had a horrible feeling this morning that perhaps the bore liner could have split :? I was warned not to push the engine too far, but me being the idiot that I am, I may have just pushed too hard. I made a few more modificatio...

supercharged 1.7 project question
If you can keep it and run it properly with a cam profile that suitable (I'd have thought standard cams or FRP cams would be ideal) then it's best to keep it. But a lot of the basic ECU's will only run on or off switches, you need a constantly varying output with a PID feedback control loop. Or alte...

Thanks guys, the car drove faultless to and from the show, although I had to rewire the rad fan as the standard ECU wasn't switching the fan on and I didn't want to get caught out in traffic. Just an update for those that don't know, the night before Fordfair, when I thought the car was ready, I was...

Thanks Sinisa, I know there would be a LOT of help if people were closer! I'm cutting it fine, found out my intercooler pipe was too short as I've moved the position of the turbo, so having the hard pipe extended :? http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx233/Pumanoob/D3682068-ACFC-4DA5-AEAD-A91342F791...

I'm pushing my luck a little, manifold and turbo are wrapped & bolted on, new EGT sensor fitted, & most of the downpipe is made. Today's tasks are to finish the downpipe, plumb the external wastegate into the downpipe, fit the coolant lines to the turbo, extend the intercooler hose, make a new oil r...

For your power goal, I'd have thought either a GTX2867 (I think they max out around 400hp) or a GTX3071. My choice would be the 3071, it has the flow of the GT3076 (like mine) but has the spool near the GT3071. My only worry was that it's most efficient at quite high boost, but if your set up for hi...

Trust me, mine is not as wide as yours, I'm only FRP width, but I tried lowering the back a little more, and the wheels dug into the arches, pulled the arch lip out and sliced my tyres at the same time. I won't be trying that again in a hurry!

Glad you got your radiator issues sorted Ben, only just read through the last part of your thread, sounds like you are experiencing all the same problems I did, too much flow and too much can for a small turbo. But I'd just be careful going too big with the turbo, I've actually just gone from a .86 ...

Well it's 12:45, & I've just come in from the man cave!! The manifold is nearly complete, V-band flanges arrived today, and a Tial turbine V-band housing! So tacked those on, fingers crossed I should be able to get the downpipe done tomorrow, then I just need to wrap it and put everything toge...

 That's such a kind offer Ben, thanks a lot, but the welding shouldn't be an issue, even if I can get it tacked up and have my mate weld it up for me. I've already chopped up the manifold, dismantled the turbo, and chopped up the downpipe. Because the manifold and turbo are such a nightmare to try and get to, it's too much hassle to bodge it temporarily for 1 day, I'd rather try and get it done properly and right. It took me 5 hours to get the dam...

So we took a trip down to castle combe to RS day, and as I was driving, there was too much heat under the bay. I opened the bonnet and the bulkhead was smouldering :o I noticed a few black sooty patches, so I guessed there was an exhaust leak. This is what I found when I took the manifold off :-( ht...

It would be a big mistake to sell this car, you have put so much time, money, & effort into it, it's just the niggles that you need to sort now. I'll sort your reverse light and speedo, don't worry about those. And my opinion may be way off, but I really couldn't see anyone paying even half of what ...
