Back to the fold

Good luck with the search, there's always some for sale but increasingly they're MoT failures due to the bodywork. Note that not all leather interiors are the same: Black and Thunder used (I think) standard Fiesta leather seat while Millennium used Recaros.

Standard Front Shock Bump stop rubber

It's a pretty generic part, common to other Fords. Would it be easier to source from local motor factors or Ebay if you're not in a hurry?

Just wanted to say Hello, but could do with some help

Good luck with the project. I've always thought it strange that Ford never put the Yamaha/Sigma (1.25, 1.4, 1.6, 1.7) engines in the Ka. Instead it always had the wheezy old pushrod 1.3. Then when the Sport came out they bored (stroked?) it to 1.6 rather than putting an existing Sigma in. I think Br...

Ferodo Racing pads for std Puma front brakes

Ferodo Racing brake pads for standard Puma front cailper/disc setup. Very light use so not new, but 95% life left. I bought these in error forgetting they wouldn't fit my uprated ST150 setup

£15 collected from Southam, Warwickshire or £20 posted to UK.

Front left and right calipers

For sale, pair of front calipers, for standard (260mm?) disc. Inc flexible hoses in usable condition. I'll get some pics but they were taken from a 2000 (Y) 1.7 Lux, working fine. No longer needed after upgrade to ST150 brakes. £40 for the pair, collect from Southam Warwickshire or I'll post £10 the...

I dunno... I think Mk1 Focus is pretty interesting. Maybe it doesn't seem that way because they're everywhere, but if you think back to 1998ish and what else was available the Focus was a giant leap forwards compared to Mk4 Golf, Astra etc. Although I do agree that Ford has cut back on the quirky st...

ha ha I hear you Dradus... I finished working at Sand Clover in April (as part of the volunatary redundancies). But not in production - I was in Quality, based in Gaydon. The Puma production pics are interesting. I worked at Ford when the Fiesta was still going down the line at Dagenham, I wonder wh...

Fuel tank woes - suggestions?

Out of interest where did the tank fail? Mine looked a bit crusty around the rear end so I've treated it for now to stop it getting any worse.

Rusty arches should I purchase

If/when the arches perforate that will be an MoT fail (sharp edges on bodywork) so they will need doing sooner or later. I had one side of mine done (only one side rotted for some reason) among other work. I think maybe the arch on its own would have been in the order of £300, the hard bit is gettin...

At what cost??

I'm nearly £4k in the hole on mine now, but it is future-proofed to some extent. It'll be a while if the car's value ever approaches what I've spent on it! However I'm negotiating renting a garage for the winter to keep the worst of the elements at bay, to try and make it last a bit longer and keep ...

4-2-1 & remap on std cams and air

I'd like some tips/advice on where to go to get a remap, pretty much same setup - standard except for 4-2-1 manifold. Although I have DIVE ecu with 2 lambda sensors.

Occasional low rumble from the front from after the strut brace was fitted - I only mention that as it was not there before I fitted it Mine did this. It was the gearbox fouling on the strut brace. If it helps you or the new owner, you need to jack the car up, then use bottle jack/bit of wood to ja...

"Economically this will make no sense" Welcome to the money vacuum! I would suggest taking your time, diagnose fuel pump fault properly. Check inertia switch by passenger ankles first. IF pump needs replacing, go slow, soak tank fixing bolts liberally with penetrating fluid first. Take the opportuni...

Good luck. It's a voyage of discovery! Sills are available... sort of. Search for my thread about the work I had done, which was similar to your list. Sills came from Poland and weren't a brilliant fit but were persuaded to fit. Front wings, I got lucky and found some 2nd hand ones which weren't too...

Air bag light

Have you left a connector undone? Easily done. The fault may well be in the clock spring, these can be replaced without changing the steering wheel. There's a thread on here from when I did mine. If you really want to disable air bag light you'll need to remove instrument panel and take out LED/bulb...

I'd guess fan relays are one unit. I'd also bet they are in engine bay fuse box. A.C. should operate fan by default even if engine is cold, to draw air through condenser. It sounds like the stall isn't being caused by the A.C. - I would guess air leak. Also the overheat: could be dodgy temp sensor i...

New Model Ford Puma coming December 2019

I'm not a fan of SUVs in general but this new Puma doesn't look too bad to me, like a baby Jag E-Pace. I'm sure it'll do quite well. I too am confused a bit by the plethora of SUVs on offer from Ford - not only is there the Ecosport, Kuga and Edge as mentioned by Red, but you've also got Fiesta 'Act...

Hopefully you've done it, it's quite rewarding repairing faults on your own car. I would of thought you could do the door cards yourself too. There's always going to be things you need an expert for but why don't you see what you can do yourself? It might make you feel a bit more positive about the...
