Re: Why is my puma so bad in the snow?

I drove my Puma for the first time in the snow today. I was very surprised in actual fact how well it pulled traction , without the traction control going ballistic. Being an alloy block on the 1,7 ,it's obviously lighter than the majority of front wheel drive cars with cast iron blocks. So I was ve...

Re: Car Stalling when slowing or stopping

What readings was your friend getting? Does it start straight away after it's cut out? Have you /someone over filled it with oil lately, whilst topping up ? as some of it can then get sucked down the valve stem seals & onto the spark plugs and cause it to stall. So it would be worth taking them out ...

Re: ABS again... MOT tomorrow! :(

Just a thought, iirc, the ABS ecu is fitted at the rear of the ABS pump. Have you checked the connector going onto the ABS ecu connector in case it has got corroded due to water ingress?
The light won't go out if you have excessively high resistance , so that may be worth a try.

Re: Pathetic Horn

My first thoughts were when I first heard mine was.
Despite Marlon Brando having a mouthful of cotton wool when he played the Don in the Godfather movies, he could shout louder than my horn!!!

Re: Engine Misfire

Before going to the expense of purchasing Lambda sensors and coil packs . It would be best to remove all 4 spark plugs and inspect the firing end of the plug. They should all be light brown biscuit coloured. Check the gap is 1.3mm. On the 1.7 engine, especially after topping up with engine oil to th...

Re: 1.7 Down on power

The first thing to do is ,try cleaning the injectors , they are probably clogged and that's why it runs better when it's cold. This is because on the cold start cycle, the injectors are pulsed from the ecu on a different warm up cycle, to enrichen the mixture. now that it's warmed up the clogged inj...

Thanks for posting this, It is different footage to the usual stuff on you tube about the Puma. The Following stuff showing Classic Racing Cars from the Past 100 years, driving around a closed off Basildon is worth a look too

Re: Brakes again but this isnt simple...

I have had a similar problem to this on a Citroen when I changed callipers. Things to try: 1) Not sure of the exact set up of the Mondeo calliper but it probably has the 2 alen key bolts that holds the caliper on(like the standard Puma)? If so , Remove your brake pads , now check to ensure that you ...

Re: Fuel Pump Problem

Agreed, there is a distinct possibility that the fuel pump is faulty. It's fitted inside the top of the fuel tank which also incorporates the fuel sender unit. You will need to drop the fuel tank to get to it and then undo the slip ring for the sender/ Fuel pump. The Haynes shows the unit the 2 plas...
