A lot of suppliers request the old Alternator on an exchange basis , unless it's an outright purchase. So he might not be able to retain it for you. A noisy Alternator can be easily diagnosed by spinning by hand , if it's really bad the bearing might have play in it . Ian G's contact details: https:...

368231 I did have a new tensioner fitted with the aux belt,so do you mean that tensioner? Yes 368231 Would it be a lot of trouble for them to remove the belt just to test and spin the alternator? Between 40 mins to 1hr labour to remove and refit. With the mileage your cars done and assuming it's th...

Gates make the belts for Ford and are the best that you can get. If you go to Fords and buy it from them , the belt will still have Gates on it, but it will have cost you more from the dealership. Did they remove the new aux belt and spin the alternator to be certain? I ask because, there is also th...

steering pulling right ?

I note At the beginning of the post it's pulling to the right by the end it's pulling to the left ? 1) Was it pulling whichever way before you had it tracked? If so is it better or worse now? 2) Have you checked the Tyre Pressures are correct? 3) Are either of the front calipers sticking slightly? 4...

You can try Ian G or take the removed hose to a local Hydraulic pipe repairer and that will make you up a replacement for a fraction of Fords prices.

Dip beam bulbs suddenly gone very dim

I've used these and they are the same as the Halfords uprated bulbs that are also 120% brighter. They work well but only last 2 years max. Iirrc the spec said 250 hours. I note that standard HB3 bulbs last a lot longer but the Xenons will help you see betterwhere your going at night!

Give Imex parts a call https://www.imexpart.com/contact-us/ they can supply most items individually, (never tried them for that particular seal) .Perhaps the seal is made by Elring or Victor Reinz. Failing that ,measure the internal diameter, Outside diameter and thickness of your seal and search fo...

Just a thought, have you checked the rear lower Gearbox mounting connecting to the floor pan? Excessive
play in that could cause the thud you describe on a gear change.

Fuel system question

It's a Charcoal filter canister, to soak up fuel in case you roll the car. The pipes run forward to vent the pressure/fumes from the petrol tank to a solenoid valve on the nearside of the engine bay bulkhead. he solenoid then gets a signal from the ECU to periodically open to vent the pressure into ...
