    Run out of room

Do you think the other half will notice when she gets home??

    Wheel arch inners

So, we can all get outer arches but is there anyone out there doing rear inner arches? Want to get a decent job done of it so any pointers would be appreciated

    Time on my hands today

Painting a door for a mate today, kind of teaching the other half how to get a good finish and it’s, umm, it’s going. Anyhow, looking at the news today, is it me or is Prince Harry a real cock womble these days? He used to be pretty cool, now he is a woke knobhead well out of touch with reality…...

Things not to do with off raw chicken

Grimm.. Had a barbie in the garden a couple days ago and one of the packs of chicken drums was (although well in date) rank! As soon as I opened the packet that smell of decay came forth - not nice missus! Long story short, somehow they managed to end up in the bag in the corner of the garden...

    What’s a good engine worth

I have a spare and just about complete 1.7 motor. I would ideally keep it but you know how things are and I might need to move it on. Had it for a long time, mileage is alleged to be low 60k but it’s been in a dry store for 10 to 15 years. Any idea what it’s worth..?

You know you have a problem when…

Here’s an indication as to how ‘committed’ to the Puma cause I was… 12 new but forgotten Bosch oil filters… I’ve also found a dozen of just about all the full service items you could want… plugs, belts, filters, new icv’s (as they always go south), I’ve even found 10 of those little grommets...

    Stupid things

More stuff! Please see the pic below, I remember buying this gasket years ago. Promised to provide a thermal barrier to the intake helping the incoming stay cool… Thing is, it stops the manifold bolting up right and gives you clearance issues elsewhere.. Think I paid about £40 for it…

    Moving house has upsides

I keep finding boxes of stuff I forgot about years ago. Clutches, flywheels, brake parts, bearings, steering wheels and even found a set of late type wheels and an engine I’d forgotten about. I must have known I’d forget about it, there’s a note to me on it saying 60k miles so it’s a young...

    We are in the doldrums

Just saying something we all know.. We are probably at the low point in terms of value of our Pumas. It’s the same for Mk 1 Audi TT’s - lots of dead and dying cars around and people don’t want to spend the money on repairs. Lots of parts available though so if you can tough it out, hang on to...

    John Wick 4

Has anyone seen this yet? I guess the question is do I wait for it to appear online as a bent copy or go and catch it before it vanishes from cinema release…

    Engine options

As we all know the 1.7 engine is considered disposable and the lack of parts lends itself to a motor that was not meant to be rebuilt. As it’s not like say, a 711M cross flow where there’s everything still possible, the 1.7 engine can only exist for so long. Therefore, what’s the favoured...

    Cylinder heads

Throwing this out to all, would there be any interest or uptake of an affordable cylinder head overhaul and gas flow service?? Basically, your head or an exchange item. Stripped, cleaned and checked for problems. Gas flowed for improved overall performance. Valves lapped in and rebuilt with love...

    Home made nitrous injection

I’ve been thinking about making a manual nitrous oxide injector using the valve assembly from a whipped cream maker. The plan would be to run the feed from inside the car via a door mounted trigger directly to a nozzle just after the throttle body. The only way I could control the delivery would...

    Giving it some head

I last did a 1.7 head many many moons ago. Spent about 3 days on getting the port shapes right. Lots of blending and getting rid of some factory castings but that was about 15 years ago. I’m now looking at 2 spare heads that I always meant to work on and I’m now on it but, over the last few...

    Front brake upgrade

Across the Pumaverse there’s a lot of ‘go for fester ST150 front brake setup’. I’ve tried a number of combinations using ST brakes and they don’t clear the Puma wheel.. so, what am I doing wrong??? Tks….

    Reshelling big ends in situ...

I’m staring up at the crank and I’ve got original big end bearing sets from way back when it was clear parts were going to dry up. Does anyone have bad news stories about reshelling the 1.7 big ends? She’s on 105k miles, journals look pristine and doing this to steel cranks has always been...

    Transmech clutches

One of my Pumas suffered a partial clutch failure about a year ago, lots of scraping noises with the clutch out and a mega low bite point. Finally got around to the tear down and a couple of surprising things. 1. It had a 220mm friction plate in it - yay #1 2. Cover looked like a Genuine LuK...

    Wheel arches - again...

Buggerit. I’m fed up of waiting on ex-pressed steel threatening to make more arch repair panels. I know I need at least 4 sets and I am sure people out there are in need so, what’s the level of interest please... I’m on the brink of going ahead with using a set of genuine Ford arches as a copy...

And Tar-Ox gave me a free lanyard...

A pretty heavy box got delivered to the office today. My staff were looking at this small but very heavy box and someone eventually asked ‘what’s that’? A set of freshly made to order Tar-Ox Fiesta ST150 Sport Japan discs. Nice..... What’s nicer is the free lanyard... for the price I paid I...
