Had a knock in my Moondust 1999 1.7 on Saturday so joined this for moral support. Only real damage is to a front and rear wheel but the beam may be damaged. Rest of car is in pretty good condition. Trying to decide whether to get it recovered to a garage and get a quote or sell whole car for parts. Any helpful advice welcome. Thanks

Hi and welcome.

Sorry to hear you've joined under circumstances of damage. Wheels and rear beam shouldn't be too extortionate to repair I wouldn't expect, so I guess it depends on your attachment to the car.

Welcome to the group, sorry to hear of your damage, wheels and a rear axle shouldn't cost too much, don't go breaking the car for parts, numbers are declining enough as it is and values are going up, albeit slowly.

Thank you. Yes, very loathe to break the car for that reason. It seems a travesty. It's been so reliable for the 9 years I've had it. Never been so sad about potentially having to let a car go.

Thanks. I'll get some quotes and weigh up my options. I adore the car. I think my parents would happily see the back of it after my accident though.

Warm welcome to the clan. Sorry to hear of the prang. Hope you can get it fixed up. ' Yes' I think Puma values are going to climb in the next couple of years.

I'd say get it repaired, as finding another one isn't that easy now and as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing t

Are you able to claim on the insurance ? They'd probably write the car off, but you could buy it back and use the payout to fund the repairs.
I recently had my daily Fiesta written off after an encounter with a deer, I was amazed how much they valued the car at, especially considering it's 9 years old, I decided to keep it and repair it myself, which I did for less than a quarter of the settlement figure for buying it back, it's now a Category N car, which doesn't worry me as I've now intention of selling it.

Welcome to the site - not in the best of circumstances but welcome anyway.

Sounds like you went for a slide on some snow or ice into a kerb possibly judging by the damage you mention? It could happen in any car so your parents sound a tad over cautious, as they all do (including myself lol).

Hope you can repair it efficiently costwise as it sounds like that's your preferred outcome (y)
