Congrats. Always a relief when they pass, especially with cut price tests getting rarer these days
I've always been wary of cut price MOT tests, I prefer to go to a proper garage that won't try and find something to get more money out of me.
Anyone remember Apples Car Clinics, they were notorious for falling cars to generate work, I think they were owned by Quick Fit, who has to close them down.

I used to use the council for many years, as they don't fix cars they have no reason to fail them. I had my Ka done by them after I bought/repaired it just for piece of mind & again the next year out of habit, but the last 2 years I found & used my local Protyre garage as they charge less than half the price - although they added a £2.50 environmental BS charge this year but it still came in under half price (£22.45 total vs £45)

As my Ka has done less than 5000 miles I figured they'd be pretty dumb to try & falsify a repair unless it was absolutely necessary so was worth the risk for the saving.

Any fail would have me scrutinising it forensically 🥸🤣

My experience has been good with 2 local Protyre branches. The only place that has ever asked me what pressure and wheel nut torque on my Quantum 2+2, as it a rare car, it's not on their system.
Also my partner had 2 tyres fitted by then and 18 months later had a slow puncture, turned out to be a loose TPMS sensor, they quickly sorted it and didn't charge her

Yes, I don't think I expressed myself very well there!
What I meant was, its always a relief when the car passes especially as tests aren't cheap - £55. Ive just had my ST3 done at my local main dealer, Stoneacre, which has numerous branches throughout Yorkshire. Over the years they have always reduced the price of tests and charged between £30 and £39 possibly because I'm a regular customer, but that has ended this year and its back to the Ministry standard price. I think other testing stations which used to offer reduced price MOTs have done similar
