Got a major oil leak coming from timing side/rear of engine covering subframe, steering rack, and the Cambelt itself.
Are there any common places for these to leak from the rear?I am replacing the belt and crank seal as a start but can't tell exactly where its coming from due the the extent of the oil coverage, any help would be appreciated

Could be way off but a common leak area is actually the rocker cover gasket - needs to be replaced with extreme care when it's done with a good quality gasket as it's often found to be the cause of many members oil leaks.

That's where I'd be looking in the first instance.

I also vaguely remember something about a breather that can sometimes be fitted incorrectly that can also cause a leak.

Hopefully someone can add to my answer for you :eek:k:

I'll second the cam cover gasket.
This is what i found when I removed the cover looking for leaks.

The clown who fit the gasket in mine prior to me buying it used silicone on it. Judging by how hard and brittle it was I'm assuming it was reused and the handfuls if silicone was used to try and get it to seal.
