Good day
my 98 1.4 was overheating a lot (red in a 5 min drive), i replaced the thermostat and now im bleeding the sistem, it has got better but now i does't go on red unless i push the car to 3k rpm, in that case it goes mad and goes to red, so idk if that was the problem and i have to bleed the sistem or if i have to replace something else.
The rad gets worm and the pipes are really hot, the returning pipe seems to be ok apart from exiting the air on the sistem ane the engine to expansion tank is extremly hoy but idk if its because the exahust sistem.
srry for bad english, its not my main language.

When my engine was overheating, the gauge would be very near 'red' but I worried if it went too high, the engine would be damaged.
I think the gauge on early Pumas would have to be almost at red before it really overheats, but I am not sure 100% - I tried no to let the gauge go that high.

Cooling system is hard to bleed, you may have some more trapped air.
Is the thermo fitted the correct way round?
Check the radiator is hot everywhere - is one end hotter than the other?
Does the radiator fan turn on when engine is hot?

My overheating was made by blocked radiator. I did not try to clean it but instead replaced it with new one.

I placed the thermos with the spring looking into the block, the same way the og was placed, i'll chech the radiator when i get back home and yes the fan turns on at max speed, it sounds like a ******* vacuum cleanner.

Hi guys, I will hereditate a 1.6 puma. It has been passed thought all the family since my mom bought it in 2001. I have the same problem of _adrn_ ; as I push the rpm over 3000 the heat spikes and the fan start to sound like a jet.
I was wondering if _adrn_ has solved the issue or there is something I have to check.

Thanks in andvance guys!

Hey, it tourns out that the water pump was broken, also i recomend to replace your thermos since it may also be your problem.
Good luck.
