Not much been happening in the world of the S**tbox.
Just been driving the wheels off it when I get chance.

I went up to Darlington last weekend to buy it another friend in the form of an Escort van.
Properly moody, met the fella who was clearly a pikey outside a scrap yard and I gave him my money through fear of losing my legs.

No pics as it's a fecking shed, but should clean up ok hopefully. 1.8 turbo diesel yielding a frankly massive 70 horse power when it left the factory, about 40 of which have escaped over the years. All of this means a top speed of 80 unladen, much less uphill or with the window open to let some noise out.

Should be good for work (I'm a bathroom fitter) plus the Puma feels like a Ferrari after driving it for a couple of hours.
As it's an old-skool mechanical injection diesel, I'll have a fiddle with the fuel pump and crank up the boost and see how many of those rampaging horses I can get back and leave a James Bond style smoke screen in my wake.

All the best serial killers drive an Escort van.

You'll also find a couple of oil changes about 500 miles apart will do it no end of good!

Aye, and a timing belt.
No history with it, and if it's been a pikey van, I suspect it's made of bits of string and blue tack at the moment.

Fair point.

I've got my eye on an intercooled engine at the moment, well, a whole car to pillage for some goodies. May as well make it a bit more pleasant to drive as the workhorse is where I spend 95% of my driving time.

Intercooled engine makes a frankly frightening 90bhp. Apparently. Any more would be crazy, these things DO NOT handle well, much worse with weight in the back!
Also, they run an intercooler mounted on the top of the engine a-la Subaru Impreza, but without the "cool" bonnet vent (see what I did there?) So with no decent airflow through, and being mounted right on top of the exhaust, it it's more like an interwarmer.

Also, according to the internet, with correct loading I can fit 18 bodies in the back.
Which is nice.

Latest mod:

Busted cooling fan, maybe after driving through some standing water, who knows.

Not had much chance to have a look, maybe the fuse, as it won't run with the AC on either.
Doesn't seem stiff to move.

Nearly cooked it in football traffic. Needle about half way into the red. Heater on full blast brought it down a bit so don't think any damage done. Not lost any coolant either, so can't have got that hot.

Ah... Welcome back to Ford ownership! Lol

Unfortunately, due to a bit of a change in circumstances this is now going up for sale.

I'll stick a thread in sales along with seperate threads for the parts I've aquired.

Bit gutted, but needs must. :(
