Alright folks I'm looking to freshen my clutch ive read the 1.8 mk1 focus will fit So im assuming the 1.8 escort si/xr3i is the same ??? Got a chance of one for nowt new old stock 220mm .thanks

Could well be the same so could fit no problem but might not either as there are a few variants.
Only way to find out would be to try it unfortunately. They are interchangeable on both the IB5 & MTX75 gearbox codes but as I say, it may still not fit. Probably best to check the actual part number (if it has one) & do a bit of cross referencing. Or, see if you can get hold of a Focus one & see if they look the same.
Best to get a slave cylinder while you're in there swapping the clutch.

When fitting it be aware to check the flywheel as it'll have been used to a 210mm clutch plate so "may" have a lip on it from wear so the new 220mm one may rub on any lip, so worse case scenario would be skimming the flywheel if it was bad enough. Again, best bet is to get in there & see.

Unfortunately I bought the 1.8 Focus 220mm one for mine many many years ago so don't have exact part numbers etc but I can say it was a perfect fit & managed no problem with copious amounts of nitrous madness 🤣

Hopefully someone else can add to my long drawn out babble :p:cool:

Great thanks 😊 how did your car cope with nitrous? How much did you run? I was thinking of low boost supercharger so to use standard internals/setup

I ran 50 bhp progressive boost, somewhat like a supercharger I guess, but with a quicker ramp up of power. From 10 to 50 in around 2 or 3 seconds (I forget). The engine coped with it without any fault, that I noticed, as I was advised that anything higher than 50 bhp would require additional work with timing etc - and possibly internals - so I held my ambitions in check. 50 was more than enough for the occasional bit of lunacy 🤣
