I have caught up with long lost friends today which was absolutely great and I am so pleased to be back in touch!
It turns out that the husband of the couple, who I knew had worked for Jaguar as an aerodynamicist, actually did some development work on the Puma!
He told me today that he was primarily working for Jaguar when it was part of the Ford empire but he was called into the wind tunnel testing for the Puma in development.
They weren't quite happy with it so he took a look and refined the bulges on the front bumper, the windscreen end of the bonnet and the' duck bill' as he called it which is the overhang in the back of the boot.
He said he and his colleagues loved the Puma project and worked very hard on it, I think they were really proud of the result.
He said he was somewhat saddened that Ford decided to reuse the Puma name for the new iteration!

I'm so pleased they did though, they're just so good to drive. I've driven lots of different cars over the years, but nothing so good to drive as my Puma's, especially on a twisty winding road.
Took a friend for a quick blast today, as we were at a classic car meet, he was very impressed by the handling and the performance on a twisty B road, I think his wife would like him to get one.

Similar story, some years ago I’d taken the Race Puma over to Le Mans in France to watch the 24hr race.
We were staying on a great campsite and bumped into a number of guys working in the Motorsports Industry, one of the guys went onto say that whilst he was at university he worked on the development of the Ford Racing Puma and later brought the FRP he’d been working on. He also had all his notes on the development work. Sadly I lost contact with the guy but found out he was working for McLaren at their test track in Spain and had his FRP transported out there, I’d would have loved to read his notes
