Puma engined kit car oil question....

Post by Lordbenny » Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:21 am

My first post so be gentle with me....

I have a newly acquired Sylva J15 kit car with a 1.7 Zetec S VCT puma engine and I am in the process of changing the oil. The book says approx 4.6 litres but I’m struggling to get 4 litres in before the reading is over MAX on the dipstick. Is this a problem unique to me or is it common? I can only presume that a fair bit of oil is left inside the engine/sump after an oil drain?

Being installed in kit car, is the original sump still on the engine? If so, 4.6 l is correct info...

Original sump, not come off the engine. I understand that the recommended amount is 4.62 litres but I can’t seem to get more than 4 in. I’ve put a spirit level on the engine to make sure it’s level! Does a fair bit on oil get left in the sump after draining?

Is the filter already full? It's 4.62 with the filter, 4.15 without.
