Rev counter signal

Hi

I'm fitting a shift light to my 1400 puma.

Can anyone advise where to pick up a tacho signal.

I've heard that you can pick it up at the coil pack but I did not want to start splicing cables without the right advice.

What about from the ecu

Do you know which wire from the ECU is the rev counter signal?

I picked my rpm signal up off the back of the speedo, I have a pinout somewhere, I'll post up the correct pin if I can find it.

I managed to trace it out using the fiesta Haynes wiring plan. There are two white cables with a black tracer going to the instrument cluster plug. One is the tachco pulse the other is the heater feed. The one you need is the wire going to 21 on the plug. It's got numbers on the plug so I just used a meter to find it. It works fine now. Or get it just after the gearbox sensor. I did for removing the limiter. I think it is the white wire running from the sensor (top of gearbox) to the ECU & dashboard.
