Hey everyone,

Having a bit of trouble with a lightened flywheel I fitted, the car cranks, fires up and then almost instantly dies/cuts out. Anyone have any advice or know how to fix this issue?

Yes, more information is needed. You would have had to disturb a lot of stuff to replace the flywheel so it could be almost anything.
My first instinct is to ask if the Idle air valve got plugged back in.

1) Not checked on the Puma 1.7 , but the flywheel is usually dowelled to ensure that the tooth with a gap in it corresponding to e.g tdc , or 10 deg btdc is in the correct place , relative to the crank.
So have you correctly fitted the flywheel?

I also do recall discussions at Ford Fair with someone that had lightened the flywheel and that had caused issues with the crank pick up sensor.

2)Did you do anything with the cam belt and therefore perhaps it's incorrectly timed up?
