Hi!

I'm writing from Portugal, and I've bought a PUMA 1.7 VCT from October 1997, about 2 years ago.
It was almost abandoned, and I just needed to rescue it!

Since I bough it I've been struggling with ABS and TC (damn!).
From time to time it started to randomly bring ABS and TC Lights on..

Delphi diagnostic software said it was left rear wheel problem.
Both rear sensors were replaced with new ones from "ABS".

Lights now are always on, even after the grinding sound.
Lately I realized I bough sensors for post 1999 model

Everything bolt on.. are they really different?
I've always read about same ohms resistance for measure, without specifying any year of the vehicle.

Delphi software doesn't show any error.
Delphi software never got real time readings (this would help a lot).

Any of you have any suggestion?
As far as I know ABS module is responsible for distributing "brake force".. and currently I feel it's really braking more at one side..

I really want to fix this.
Any help will be much appreciated!

Thank you guys ;)

Are your tone wheels in good clean condition?
Is the loom ok? (I assume yes if you get no errors)
AFAIK the resistance readings are the same for all.

One thing to consider is that the drum size did change mid production and maybe there were actually differences on the sensors to accommodate?

You've probably already tried this, but if not:

To test the sensors:

1. Remove Wheel
2. Remove Inner Arch Lining
3. Unplug ABS Sensor
4. Set Multimeter to Ohms
5. Set Range so meter reads between 1000 and 1200 Ohms
6. Test the sensor plug LEADING to the wheel hub by going across the 2 pins
7. A good sensor should read between the values with an average of 1.1K Ohm
8. Anything else can point to coils breaking down
9. Remember to wiggle the sensor lead when testing to check the internal coils
10. Repeat if necessary on other side.
