Hi guys,

I have just bought a 1999 Puma in green, good condition inside and out and well looked after, the only thing that lets it down is that it is suffering from lacquer peel on the bonet and tailgate.
Any ideas on how to treat this at all?
Or am I better off looking for a replacement bonnet?
I have found one in black but not sure if it will spoil the cars looks or make it look unique
Thoughts?

Cheers

James

 Welcome James

A body shop would be able to sort it out for you, it really depends what your plans are for the car as to the best option for you. If you are running it around as a beater then possibly just live with it, in my opinion it would look odd with mismatched colours unless you are going to start doing more modifications to tie it in.

OR if you are feeling handy then you could try and make it look better yourself

Body parts (the metal kind) do come up quite regularly on eBay, so maybe live with it (or try the YouTube video method) until a green one pops up. Also search for 'ford puma breaking' as someone might be breaking one the right colour - in which case grab some spares at same time. For my part I'm still waiting for some decent medium steel blue bumpers to come up, but I'm not in a huge rush.

Be aware that (I think) earlier cars didn't have the high mount stop lamp, but I think they fit either way.
