I thought I would write up this quick guide as the pictures on the current guide do not work. Was one of my first things done on the Puma :)

1. Remove the Rubber Seal

2. I removed the 2 plastic screws (at the arrows) and loosened the panel (circles)

IMAG0334.jpg

3. Moved the clips a few inches down all 4 rubber pipes, and unplugged the connector. (probably best to do this with the engine cold, as this water can get VERY hot)

IMAG0336.jpg

4. Chucked the connector to the side a bit (away from where things could get wet...)

IMAG0337.jpg

5. Pulled all 4 pipes off and removed the HCV. I used that box to keep the pipes upright to avoid any fluid loss.

6. Comparison between old and new unit... new one is a 7N21 :)

IMAG0339.jpg

7. Back in place and 4 pipes connected... remember what ones go where!

IMAG0340.jpg

8. All 4 clips brought back up to seal the pipes to the HCV. Also plugged back in the connector.

9. Put all the wee bits and bobs back, ensure panel is in the correct location, rubber screws at the bottom, rubber seal and anything else shifted.

10. Job well done :) (I done the usual after that, let the car get up to temperature, ensured water was flowing, coolant wasn't low, top up if need be, etc)

Craig!

Excellent effort!

I'll move it to the "how to guides" section as pictures are always very helpful!

:eek:k:

I let the car get up to temp. Changed the dial to hot and it was blowing near boiling heat... changed the dial to cold and after a few seconds was blowing nice and cool!

Tried air con too... was lovely lol

Nice guide... even better timing

My one has just gone, I'm driving everywhere with the windows down!

My heating is just constantly cold no matter how much i turn the heating up could it be the same thing that needs replacing on mine?

YOG's just pointed me towards this topic (great topic/pics- thank you).

Quick question, wheres best to order from and roughly how much would it be?

NO, only get it from ford, a lot of ebay ones are old stock and will fail again.

Fordpartsuk on the net are a ford dealer if you need to order online

I should have listened. I still don't have the HCV from parts-for-fords. I paid the seller online and they didn't reply to emails and then when I chased (after paying via paypal) they classed me as a non-auction payer. Communication was sporadic- they called me once.

Hi All
I think i have just done the classice beginners mistake, my Puma been blowing hot for ages so invested in ebay part
I put the Hoses back on and noticed they looked twisted, might have put them back on the wrong way round :|
The Left Hose long one, as you look from the front off the car this hose goes all the way round to the front off the Engine. And the Right hose short one goes to the back right side off the Engine.
Well thats the way ive put them back. feel a right plonker as should have followed the pic guide above.
Well either way it still blowing Hot , so not fixed Problem :(
Can anyone let me know if this is the correct way for the hose Please.
Completed Novice with a RED FACE lol
