Mate, i bet every person on this site knows something about the Puma that i dont know!! :) And from talking to you the other week up bassets, you obviusly know what your talking about with cars, any help you can give me will be a bonus!
Ill definately be up for some new induction pipes mate, but where would you go to get them made up? I quickly put my new set up together the other day, so it dosent look the best, so a new set up from the compressor through to the throttle body would be good. Might be cheaper to get a kit, with a range of different angles and joiners.

Oh, and youve got my number mate, best to txt rather then call, coz i cant really answer my phone at work, but i dont mind you contacting me if you want to query anything mate, you know how much i love talking about cars!!

Im hopefully going to Santa Pod on Sunday, so fingers crossed, a decent 1/4mile time with Videos, or at least a copy of my 1/4 slip!

well you seen my mate daz with the 600bhp evo out and he has custom pipes and samco made up for his constantly for his own and customers cars so he will be able to point me where to go so once we get a mock up we can use ill take it to him and ask the questions. thing is altho you say get a kit with joins its more likely to get a leak aint it so your best off gettin one pipe that you know that fits perfectly and aint gonna leak or cause a vaccum. just be back to square one with boost leak then wont we lol

i like the fact you have gone or are going for a recirc valve tho i thought about that as the ibiza boys use them, i know they come standard on them to be fair but most have no troubles off the valve only off the pipe work and most of the time its because they run standard pipework after making engine adjustments and we all know that just wont work. pipes will split and pressure burst before your down the end of the road.

also i need to know what imtercoooler to be lookin out for. whats your one off? and whats the fit like behind the bumper?

I only found out last weekend what mines off, the lad in the VXR deawoo has the same intercooler, and he said its off a vauxhall frontera!! Big surface area, but low capacity. Works really well. I had to move the bracket that holds the rad, ive moved it back about 70mm, and the intercooler fits nice just in front of the aircon rad.
PICT0108.jpg

This is the reason i dont have the number plate on the front anymore, because it would block the flow, its a daft design to have the numberplate blocking the rad anyway!
PICT0109.jpg

And this is a pic of the relocation of the MAF, its pushed the air filter further down where its cooler too, so that cant be bad, and you can just see the cold air feed next to the EDIS module pointing straight at it!
PICT0107.jpg

awesome stuff dude!. why don't you mount the number plate in the middle of the bumper where as now it only halfway into the middle. screw it in the top half of the number plate as it will be raised.

yea i was gonna say the same redrill the 2 holes at the bottom of the plate and fit the plate further up. saves police hassle or get a square one made up and fitted to the side. or even get a sticker made up and put that on the very front of the bonnet

that all looks like a tight fit so i doubt ill be ablt to keep my viper kit but i have the k&n and the frp box too so one of them will work im sure :)

will be a while till i get all the parts anyway i think so will sort that when i get to it :)

You can keep the viper, that will be awesome with a longer cold air feed to the front, but you might need to put a cold feed where TyeBoi has his, cut into the side of the bumper, where it wont interfere with your intercooler set up. I think it might not look too good if i put it further up, im thinking to get a square plate made up and put it to the side of the grill.

yea dude i am already making the custom vent anyway. not havin it where tye has his tho ill have mine further up in the actual bumper, thinkin of cuttin the vents out of the new fiesta bumper where the foglights go and using that. should be a shorter pipe to the filter then too so im hoping will draw more air. will see how i get on tho when i start the new front bumper as ill have plenty of room for intercooler once thats on :)

and yea dude personally id go with the square thats what ill do. or ill go with a standard font and trim the plate down to size lol

I want to see this fiesta puma bumper mix, those fiestas have a bigger grill then the puma, and the number plate sits higher, so that would be both cosmetic and practical mod. You need to hook me up with these vents and stuff, i want a cold feed directed at my intake manifold.

just get masses of motorsport piping and cut holes in your front bumper or grill to vent them to the locations you want.

a track puma on pumapeople has an intake in the grill part of the bumper. also you must of seen bumpers that have been hole sawed where the number plate should be to aid cooling.

we will get there dude dont worry just get yourself a fiesta bumper thats nakard and ill make it fit for you :) im doing mine soon hopefully so you can wait till iv done mine if you want to see how it looks first. altho it wont be higher as it need to be fitted lower to suit the lines of the car to start with and yes the grill is bigger so you could mount the cooler in a diff location and further forward giving you more room. makinf the side vent a working one is the easy bit. only thing you would need to do it get it sprayed ...

apparently hes errol is very good at spray painting with rattle cans so i think he wil have that covered! will be interested to see this!

yea i do have a compressor but i dont have spray kit for it so i might try and get a cheap spray kit and try that with the 2pac paint an see how it comes out lol

and i cant find one of them intercoolers for love nor money.

you figured out what clutch to go for yet? im thinkin i might as well do this upgrade while im doing lsd and clutch rather than have to do it again in a few months :)

Well I know it's against the advice of alot of people on this site, but I've been made an offer that I couldn't refuse. I happened to meet a guy who runs a company that makes custom clutches! He has just developed a clutch kit that he thinks can handle the power. It's a 5 paddle clutch, with uprated pressure plate, and he basically said I can be the test pilot of this kit to see how much power it will take, & if i do manage to max it out, he will fit a new higher power clutch kit for free! Now you can't argue with that! He's asked that I don't disclose the company name or price for now, until all testing has been done, so I'll have to respect his wishes on that, but I'll be fitting the kit tommorow hopefully, & testing will commence! I'm very excited about the prospect of a custom made clutch kit at a really affordable price. Pics and vids to follow

I got the clutch yesterday, and it took me 6 hours to fit it on my own :? ! Just thought id include some pics, found Jackos "How to" thread most helpful, i usually do things in a different order, but was nice to have a read through for bits id forgotten about! Like a fool, i drained all the gearbox oil, and then knocked the bucket over on my drive :x

aww man you has to tease me lol my clutch is gone and need mine doing now and you get this lol ask him if he wants a 2nd tested and ill fit it strait away lol

Good day at the Pod yesterday, bit of a headwind, so times not as good as they could be, but im pleased with what i got in the end.
For those of you who dont really think my times are very good, just take a look at this Focus RS racing an Escort Cosworth. These have got to be two of the fastest production FWD road cars ever made in this country, and i dont know what mods, (if any) these have.

Ok, so what do you think will be the outcome of me racing a Sierra Cosworth? I asked the guy what kind of power he was running, he said well over 400bhp! Lets see shall we.

Lets just say he werent very happy with me
Heres a vid of me racing a Nissan Skyline, he beats me by 0.4 sec, my change from 3rd to 4th was too late, and i hit the limiter, so could have possibly shaved a fraction off that time.

Here was my best time, this machine i raced was an old Datsun, i think possibly a 240 or similar, with a tuned skyline engine, i was never going to beat his time, but im pleased with my time, thats almost a second off my best at Avon Park!

I got a bad time in this vid, after an AWEFUL start, this VR6 golf was getting some really good results. But just look how well i pull back after the aweful start, i think i could have beat 14 secs had i not totally messed this start up. :x

My paddle clutch still needs bedding in, if id have had more time, i really should have got my flywheel skimmed to get max contact, as the flywheel wasnt compltely flat, and i think i definately need an LSD to make the most out of my car now, but i think thats about it for this project, other then a rolling rd just to see what power im actually getting. Ive built, and mapped this car myself, so im pleased with the results, considering how much its cost me!
Looking at the car stats calculator, if my car weighs 1000kg, id need at least 200bhp in a N/A car to get a 14.1 1/4, so with turbo lag, id need more, so it will be interesting to see how much power ive actually got!!

You had some great runs there! (except the last) Bet that put a few noses out of joint

Except the EsCos is 4wd, hence why the FRS got away quicker ;)

Ha ha, yeah mate, not many people interested in my car when i turned up, but after a few runs, alot of people come to see what i had done to it!

Wow, i didnt know the Escort was 4wd, i thought only some of the Saph cossies were 4wd!!

The interesting thing i was told yesterday, was a mk 3/3.5 fiesta, was running a puma engine, with 270bhp! It did blow up on the track, but im not sure if the people who told me were just confused, but it would be interesting to find out more about this car if it was a 1.7. I personally think it was probarbly a mistake, as the 2.0 silvertop is alot easier to put in that fiesta, and cheaper, and id have thought it would take more boost and make more power. But if anybody knows otherwise, would be good to get some info

I know Toby used to run his track 1.7 Puma with a turbo at about 270bhp.
