Id like to give your car man love!! Nice wheels, are they 17", they look big. What size are those discs?

haha yer its getting there, no there 8x18's they fill the arch really well.
need to either keep the original 17's or get some new ones as with the new engine it will be over geared at 9000rpm on 18's :)

there 330mm cant remember how wide i think 28mm and 4pots with ds2500 pads.

I'm liking the Escort... that's LUSH!

haha yer thats a nice one i drove it on medium boost at bruntingthorpe and its unreal, nearly undrivable that was with 600bhp it made 780 on race fuel its a bit of an animal but dad sold it last year unfortunately :(

i think you can just about see my saph cossie down the end aswell ;)

ryan very intersting info...I assume you will be running her on high octane fuel or avgas...got a few questions for you though .

1. will you fit a fire ring for the head gasket.
2. which head gasket will you use..
3 are you fitting knock sensors...will you use these to retard the ignition if detonation occurs.
4. 9000 rpm is high and excellent, this f3 engine runs at 8200, was wondering why they did not take it up a bit for extra power, 9000 seems a perfect number...what ecu will you use to do that. was it you that stocks them...

No shell v power.
The standard head gasket is ised.
No knock sensors are needed
Yes it will peak at 9000 and hold power till 10,000. If you could get the f3 engine to peak at 9krpm that would be very powerful but they just dont, as a 2litre 8000 seems the norm.
I will be using the original pectel t3 ecu which controls the vvt which I'm keeping because the cams are so big.
We stock all pectel ecu's you would be fine with the cheaper t2 as your not running vvt

9000rpm??? Yes please!! I hope you have a srtong bottom end on it lol, im sure the engine load doubles every 1krpm after about 4krpm. Should sound the nuts, i take it for those sort of revs youll using very hot cams, 290+ duration and some decent lift? It will sound like a rally car idling! Be nice to get some footage when its up and running!

sounds great, my heavy duty bottom end should be able to rev up to 9000 but I am sticking with 7000 rpm and bigish turbo, well gt 28...with slowish spool up so i get minimal torque but a long slowish build up.

I am using megasquirt on all of mine alongside the normal ecu, but if what you are saying is tha the pectel ecu can control the VVT too....I could I use that on my engine above in the track day car...sa it will use a std head, even though i have been told by all other tuners to remove it for a turbo engine..

cannot see any real reason why we could not take the f3 engine up to 9000 but its life up there would be so much shorter...my thoughts are if it does not give me the power I want at around 7000 to 7500 I will go turbo and lower the revs...but to be fair I still think anything above 250 bhp in an frp is more than enough...your target of 240 will be easily achieved if not more...but if anyone should know it would be your dad..... and anything above 300 getting into silly street..perfect for me as I am totally silly...

Standard cranks were taken to destruction as every other component was with ford and was still in one piece over 10500rpm so standard crank for me, steel rods and forged pistons all the usual, cams are crazy over 12mm of lift on the inlet I think standard is 8mm haha

If it wasn't for the vvt the car wouldn't even start on its own nor idle anything under 2-2.5 thousand rpm but on my pectel ecu it has a switchable map so ill have one nice and lumpy just for you ;)

Pectel ecu's are amazing and are all we use other than standard cossie Webber.

You could definately take your engine to 9k but it wouldn't peak there it would peak earlier like I say at around 8k maybe a touch higher.

Whatever you end up doing it will be enjoyable in your cars :)

The super 1600 engines left ours for fords rally cars at 222 bhp. With The extra cc i have and bigger valves along woth Dyno time he thinks 240 is possible. Although there was 100k of development just at 220bhp lol it will certainly not be easy :)

un fortunately i have taken the 18inch compomotives off as they caught round roundabouts, they needed spacers which i wasnt really bothered about doing as i need 17's for my new engine anyway so have put the standard wheels back on temporarily untill i find a new set.

AP racing brakes fitted saturday and are absolutely amazing, i dont think the alcons had the best pads in so isnt the fairest comparison but there brilliant :)

its ESCOS gaz up north spraying it isnt it? Should be a top job from what ive seen of his other work. How much is the respray costing you?

yes mate hes painting it just a short 200mile to durham lol.
yes i dont know if youve seen jims saphire but it looks amazing so had to be him to paint it :)
he sorts us out price wise as we built his car and so on, he said £1500 but its had a little more work than expected on the rear quaters underneath so maybe a little more than that.

just brought a set of gold rl7's to go on it aswell so should look awesome :)

RL7's?? bit of an odd choice for an FRP. Quite heavy?

just one of my favourite wheels at the minute and a bit of input from jim haha.
not bothered about the weight difference i dont think there any heavier then the standard frp wheels. if it doesnt turn them it will just have to get more power lol

Gota love that mentality lol!!

Haha I can assure you that's what will be happening lol.
Standard frp wheel with worn out tyre is 19.9kg
And rl7 with a brand new tyre is 21kg so 1kg difference is probably the tyre.
