Hi mate sorry for the late reply im not on this forum to much.
since i have been away i have had a few cars lol a clio hybrid basically a valver with 2.0 f7r williams engine,a scooby and then the fiat coupe 20vt.
i have a clio 182 which was my daily throughout owning the hybrid and sccobs. which im currently selling.
and for my beast i have a fiat coupe 20vt.
i do miss the puma but i dont miss the straight line speed, wouldnt mind your one though.
wonder what it would be like against my coupe :) lol

reading ya thread again and looking out the window at a puma shell with a perfect engine thats off the road.. so tempting! how is the green machine?

I've not done anything with the green puma for a while, I've been concentrating on my blue puma. I've been thinking about revamping the green puma, with a 5th injector set up and a bigger turbo that I happen to have laying around!!

haha do it! im trying to blag the parents to let me keep my old puma on the drive, its stripped massively but still driveable, really tempted to splash out and follow your DIY method with squirt,i have a top welder at hand for buscuit labour!. the only thing i would get confused with is pipe setup, everything else is pretty much bolt on :p

Just come over & look at mine, the pipe work is very easy. If you take a look at madhilbilly1.7's project, it shows how he rooted his pipe work, and the pics are quite good. Also there will bee some good pics (hopefully) on Mac's 'RS frozen Puma R99 JRW' project. Or come over to mine and have a look how it's plumbed in. It's really not that difficult. The hardest part is getting the manifold and down pipe.

Love the whole concept of this project.

The biggest cost seems to be the clutch

How much power would you say a standard one would take?

Wouldn't mind doing something like this myself although i'd be looking for around 170-180bhp.

I think if you fitted a focus 1.8 clutch, you'd be ok on 180ish, really depends on torque over bhp. I ran an organic clutch up to around 170bhp and it was fine but I don't have a clue what torque I was running. It was about 7psi of boost.

Just spend two hours reading all this... now my eyes hurt!

Damn interesting to read and quite inspirational!

Seems a lifetime ago I dd this, I just wish now I'd have taken the time to take more pics, there seems to be a lot more interest now then when I started this.

Apart from when you had a few problems with it bombing out at 5k, which is where I got lost, the whole thing looks really easy to do!

WOW!! Just spent the past 2 hours or so reading this on the iPad (I think the misses thinks I've been looking at porn!) ,

I'd love to turbo charge my little Puma but always thought the cost would be astronomical (but it seems maybe not!) I just need to get saving and find someone with a bit more mechanical knowhow than me to help fit it so I don't blow it up!

A great read mate, & i look forward to seeing your next project! & hopefully get to see one of them at a meet at some point too

Car stuff is porn lol! There are quite a few people on here now doing turbo conversions, but yeah, for low budget, 5-7psi in a standard engine is a lot of fun!! At the same time though, it wasn't my daily driver, so I could afford to take the risk.

Cheers mate

No luckily not my daily driver, just one I use for a bit of fun & the odd track day!

Then it's a perfect candidate, there are ( hopefully) a good few members on here now that will tell you that I'm not always physically available to do work on your car or make things, but I'm always available to give any advice I can, so if ever you want to go through some options or chat engines or turbos, just PM me or add me on Facebook and I'll talk (bore the hell out of you) for hours! I don't get bored of talking engines and cars, weather it's something I know about, or something you can teach me about, I'll talk for hours!!

Cheers fella, I appreciate that! It's definitely something I'd like to do. Of to Rockinham next week (are you going?) so looking forward to seeing (& chasing!) Mac's new turbo monster!

& what are you under on Facebook? Or you can find me under Alan Simpson or by email [email protected]

Cheers
Al

Yup, I'm 80% there mate!! I can't drive, but I'm hoping brute force will get me through it!!! I'll add you now on FB.

Well I look forward to meeting the 80% of you which is there mate (I'll catch up with the other 20% next time!) :p

Shame you can't drive though, I'm sure someone will take you out as a passenger, I'm happy too but my Puma's fairly standard, so compared to your motor it'll probably feel like walking pace!

And cheers for the FB add!

The can't drive comment was more to do with my ilack of track driving skill rather then not being able to physically drive there. If I'm there, my car will DEFFO be taking to the track, but in my FRP not the green puma.
