What gearbox internals from other vehicles will fit in the Puma gearbox?

I'm thinking about the possibility of using the gears from a diesel, so I get lower ratios in 1st to 4th with a higher ratio in 5th.

This simple Excel Spread Sheet is quite useful for calculating road speeds, dependent on gear ratio, FD ( CWP ) and tyre diameter.
As far as what Ford IB5 gbx internals will fit in a Puma IB5 casing, any from vehicles that used the IB5 5 speed gbx. All FD Crownwheels were made with a 8 bolt mounting to the Diff housing. So Crownwheels are interchangeable to give a higher or lower final drive, obviously you also have to change the layshaft to match the Crownwheel as the pinion gear is machined on to the layshaft ( CWP are matched sets to give the FD ratio ).

Maybe simplest solution would be a lower FD ratio, giving you lower gearing for 1st - 5th gears, then changing 5th gear ratio, to give you a higher 5th gear.

These are Fiesta and Puma ratios. (copied from jason33 of zsoc)

1.25/1.4 and 1.6 Zetec S Gear Ratios were found to be as following:

1st 3.58
2nd 1.93
3rd 1.28
4th 0.95
5th 0.76

The 1.7 Puma box however has a slightly taller 1st gear and a closer 3rd, 4th and 5th gear:

1st 3.15
2nd 1.93
3rd 1.41
4th 1.11
5th 0.88

The 1.6 Zetec S, has a 4.25 Final Drive Ratio

The 1.25/1.4, has a Final Drive Ratio of 4.27.

The 1.7 Puma has a Final Drive Ratio of 3.82

People tend to go down the route of 1.6 Zetec-S ratios and the Final Drive from a 1.7 puma which is the same as an Ford Racing Puma box.
Hope all the info helps?

Well something like that.
Some more useful info on the Ford IB5 gbx, it's use in Fords product range and the ratio and FD specs:

This is a really comprehensive list of which cars you can source ratios and FD from
