I've just seen 319 come up for sale, and at the risk of a divorce, I'm really tempted! Anyone know anything of it?

Not yet!

Any advice welcome. Still in negotiation stages with the seller..... and the wife!

Depends on what the asking price is...
Cam belt replacement is a bit more specialised than standard 1.7, needs to timed with proper FRP tool. Some will disagree, but the car will not run well if done with standard tool.
Front brakes maintenance history is important, if still on original Alcon setup then can be very expensive to sort out.
Suspension rubbery bits are mostly standard Puma, apart from 'rear' front wishbone bushes. Shocks and springs are virtually bomb proof so unless on originals with 100k miles or more they should be OK.
A decent stainless exhaust system is a plus, but most of the originals have been replaced by now anyway.
Interior trim and external body panel are difficult to find/replace. This is why (in my opinion) the FRP is no longer suitable as a daily driver. A prang in a supermarket car park can write one off!
Apart from all that, it's mostly standard Puma stuff to look out for.
As I said, it depends what you pay and what you are prepared to spend.
Hope this helps.
Paul

Hello all... so I am the lucky (well unlucky) guy who bought 319. I paid £1000 deposit and went to collect from Oxford-nobody home and no sign of the car... So looks like I've been shafted chasing the car I've always wanted to own. Any info anyone might have on 319 would be appreciated. Thanks. Mark

No way mate. Absolutely gutted for you. I was only saying to my friend earlier that it was strange the ad was still live and wondered whether it was all above board.

Have you reported it to ebay etc? Did you speak to him? He gave me a phone no but it didn't work.

Hmmm, I asked him why it was showing as taxed and MOT'd but vehicle enquiry showed it none of the above, it was after thatni got the 'it's sold' email. I really hope that it's all just a big misunderstanding and you're not out of pocket.

It's amazing how dishonest people can be. He said that he had owned it for 3 years in the ad... just want to find out who owns 319 to verify it. I don't think it's a misunderstanding-its a very clever bit of fraud. He's selling 8 cars in total right now and has 200 feedback score. An elaborate scheme for a few thousand (a guy who bought an MR2 and left a deposit turned up at the same time as me to collect), so my guess is it will be an overseas scam. Gutted-have been excited all week about collecting it
