Hi there!

I'm Guille, from PowerArt, a spanish motoring YT channel.

We have bought this Puma to try to work on it as a "fun to drive" everyday car. In fact we are trying to implement the FRP treatment, developing our own suspension arms, but we are having problems with spanish regulations in order to make them road-legal...

So, hello everyone and... given that I've already introduced myself... let me ask you my very first question: We are also looking forward to change the steering wheel. Due tu EU regulations regarding homologation and road legality, we should keep using an Airbag steering wheel, so we are looking to use another, newer, Ford item. I want to ask if anyone here knows if newer Ford Fiesta steering wheels (current gen, or previous one, for example) are compatible to Puma's steering mount.

Kind regards!

Welcome aboard Guille. I don't know about the airbag steering wheel but the wishbone FEA and kinematic analysis is impressive. I would like a set of normal puma adjustable wishbones.

Thank you for your words ;) Once we have finished the design of the wishbones and tested them, may be we can build them under order. I will let you know for sure! I was looking forward to use original FRP items, but I'm not totally convinced with the design, and I don't want to deplete the stock of items for real FRP owners.

Regards!

The FRP wishbones are just normal wishbones cut in two pieces and having an extension welded to them. Typical Ford bodge job!

Regards
Alex

Hello Guille

I must say I am not fancy about changing the steering wheel of the Puma, but I can tell you there is a couple of Fiestas mk4 with a steering wheel of the Fiesta mk7.

I have MK4/5 Fiesta steering wheel in mine. Instead of the perforated leather sections at 3 and 9 o clock, mine is just plain leather all the way around.

If you're doing this you need to keep the original clock spring which is just a push/click fit into the centre of the wheel.
