Welcome to the site. :)

Best thing to do is get a puma1.4 botom end, most other alternatives wil include more work and hassle.

the focus 1.4 engine is suppose to be a easy swop on the same reg

Quite possibly, i suppose if it is then its wht you can get hold of for the best price

Im sure someone else will confirm if you can

no, it really is...lol

The fiesta deriviant came long before..... the 1.4 was offered in the puma as Ford knew there would not be enough 1.7 units to supply the whole production line output as the deal with yamaha was for a fixed number of units (engines)... around 100,000 i believe...

I posted that as you posted yours so it wasnt actually aimed at you :p

What i meant was if the engine he said would be compatable, go for it if he cant source a decent puma 1.4 .

Cheers for the info, dont know much about the 1.4 :eek:k:

Welcome on over from PassionFord ;)

As long as you keep the ancillaries from your current engine (Alternator, coil etc) and just swap a Zetec SE 1.4 block from any 1995 - Present 1.4, it shouldn't be too much of an ache.

ZETEC-SE OR SIGMA (mk 4, 5 and 6 fiestas and the puma)
cylinder head co-developed by yamaha
1.25, 1.4 1.6 (though we do obviously find the 1.7 in the pumas this being fitted with a variable cam timing cylinder head though it is just a development of the same engine)
belt driven double overhead cam
all alloy construction
designed to be just strong enough for production form and not much more
excellent cylinder head efficiency
intake manifold to the front

Exactly. There were approx 140,000 Pumas made in total, so 40,000 were 1.4s or 1.6s. Approx 45,000 came to the UK in total so I've been told.

i put a fiesta engine in mines when the big end went cost me £220 for a low mileage engine done the swap ourself's
