Yes and no there. The interior wasnt as nice as they wanted it to be.

Compared to it's contemporaries, remember this was 1997 when it was released, the interior design was pretty OK...it does look dated today (as you'd expect) but I find the smooth shapes cosy and comforting and the ergonomics simple and unintimidating.

I really dislike angular interiors (not exactly a Feng Shui follower) that most modern cars seem to have (e.g. Sitting in a Fiesta MK5 is like sitting in Legoland), and the excess of buttons all over the place like some cheap microwave oven...not to mention the 'me too' silver sprayed plastic for the 'alloy effect' which I think the Puma adopted early on but I hate so much it is now completely absent from my Puma's interior.
The only silver things left on mine are the wheels, calipers and light reflectors pretty much

i think the race look is the way forward with my project got any examples of them to give me some ideas

Stick to the credo 'function over form' and you'll get there...

True race cars don't have any extraneous bits that aren't going to help it win a race...in fact they can sometimes look downright ugly in their search for race winning ideas.

Just been lookin at your pics you have on Facebook. Really nice job! Looks like you've spent a long time painting all the bits. Did you paint the dash or is it lifted from a Fiesta? You seem to mention you lifted it from a mk5?

Dash surround and heater panel are MK4/5 Fiesta (already black...well actually very dark metallic grey), Door handles are MK6 Escort sanded down and sprayed satin black. The window switch surrounds were secondhand Puma ones off eBay that I sanded down and sprayed satin black.

All looks dark in there now

I'd like to do this. Looks like an easy mod to do all the bits, except the handles. Might leave those silver. The rest of the dash trim just unscrews and there's lots of them on ebay.
I'm not a fan of the silver either. Looks a bit cheap.
How'd you get the gearknob off? I tried to unscrew it but I don't wanna break it :S

It just unscrews.

Grab your knob with both hands and screw off....

... so to speak.

everything on my car is difficult to remove its had one owner before me, dont think they took it apart much or changed much
