I'm looking to buy a FRP, is there fakes around that I should look out for. I have checked the history and it just came back 1.7 ford puma. I then checked on webuyanycar.com to see what model that brought up and again that was just a puma. Is there any way I could check the reg to see if it's geniune?

All FRPs where 1.7 and registered as such with the DVLA, then converted by Tickford.

Get the car number, and let us know, or post on RPOC as someone there will no doubt the history!

ive seen that 1 for sale.looks fine to,make sure it has the correct frp booklet, service history, manifold etc. There is a couple of fakes around, but not many due to cost of parts

take a magnet; 99% of fakes have fibreglass rear quarters. as far as i know no1 has made a full fake from genuine parts.

elvins is close but is red and only has the bodykit and suspension

theres a few black ones about also

Yes well I won't now be owning #82. After agreing to sell to me via ebay. I phoned to arrange collection and his sold to someone else for £300 more. Even though I'd have paid more for it. Arsehole, makes things worse he hinks the person will be breaking it, even though it's perfectly good! If he didn't live 200 miles away, I'd pay him a visit!
That's my little rant over!

That's bloody awful! I'd get straight onto ebay about that.

Another one just purchased for profit.

:wall:

They will do sod all. I've offered to match the offer and drop the neg feedback and non seller compliant on ebay of he agrees, but not holding my breath. Was really looking forward to getting it as well

I know there's nothing they can really do, but the more people complain about that sort of thing, the better the chances are they'll do something more tangible to stop it in the future.

There are a few out there Tommy - just need to keep your eyes peeled.

guted for u mate. There is afew out there. A couple on rpoc, and u know its been looked after on there.

u never know if an frp has been looked after.....end of!

even certain mids based specialists are complete cowboys.......
and most fraud dealers dont know what they are.....
and most people on rpoc are buying the wrong parts for theres.....(at very wrong prices)

its an enthusiasts car.....imagine buying a classic ferrari....and doing ALL the maintenance yourself & your halfway to having a 'good' frp

People buying FRPs just to sell off the parts is really starting to piss me off.

Tony at pumaspeed has got one, looked clean to me, but he wanted quite alot, in the region of £5500 iirc. He had dont everything it needed though, like a brake service and cambelt.

Was it his own one? That had a bad scuff on the rear bumper the last time I saw it. He drives like a **** so I wouldn't buy a car from him TBH.

Yeah he told me he bought it for himself but in the end decided 4 cars was too much. Think he said he had two focus' and fiesta and that.

I can only find three at the mo. One is £10k, one is a cat D at £5k and one on ebay which is nice. Only 1 owner and 16k miles. Liking the sound of that one, but it's ebay again.
