Just push the lever that you pull to open the door back inwards.

Time for a thread revival!

Looking on Ebay, it looks as though the Jaguar key has the same tibbe blade as the Puma key, can anyone confirm this to be the case? Looking at the Focus flip keys they have flat blades.

I asked one guy that sells Jaguar flip keys on Ebay if the key will work on my Puma. He asked if the master key and the plastic top of the normal key are blue or red. Being all black as you know :) should I ask for the red PATs chip to be included?

Can you guys tell me if the flip key from the mondeo, focus , c.max work on puma ?

Because i will do a conversion from a IF 2 button Key for the RF 3 Button key and if this flip key works like the 3 Button key on puma would be great :)

You can get that key to work but you'll need to add a tibbie blade to it and change the PATs chip from blue to red.

I don't know what's involved in fitting the tibbe blade but I can from memory confirm someone has already done it. In fact I think you can buy them pre-made on eBay?

I have two of the Jaguar ones already. They came with the car. :)

.. they lost it when they replaced the leaping cat with the cats head

In Jaguarland these are known as the leaper and the growler. A leaper would have been tricky to fit on that little round button. Plus, if you squint a bit you could pretend that it's a Puma.

Sorry mate, i dont get the part about change "PATs chip from blue to red." i don't know what is that lol What a noob i am. :lol:

Well , at the moment i'm using a Infrared system ( 2 button key ) but i will upgrade for the RF system ( 3 button key ).
Stuff for the upgrade :
- Cables
- Fuse Box -> http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6628/centralw.jpg
-3 Button Key -> http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1152/p3200004p.jpg

I dont' know if anyone did this kind of upgrade, so if yes i will apreciate any help :)

But what i really wanna to know is if the Mondeo keys work like the 3 Button key from the puma.
Red, the link you post, that's like what i'm looking for but.. a bit expensive at the moment :oops:

Thanks guys

Yeah you can possibly make your own. Basically my comment of changing the PATs chip from blue to red refers to a little glass tube within the key. The older 3 button tibbe key that the earlier mondeos, fiestas, KAs, transits, Puma etc have are known as red ones and can only be programmed to the corresponding receiver within the car. Later cars such as the later models of some of the aforementioned use a blue chip and can't be programmed to car which which is listening for the red chip.

If you get one of these keys with a flat blade it'll 99.9% likely have a blue chip. You can replace this with one from one of your spare keys but it will mean butchering it slightly to get it out. You then need to find out how to replace the flat blade with a tibbe one, something I've not tried to do.

As for swapping an IR system for an RF system I don't recall anyone doing it although it has previously been discussed. If you go ahead and get it working you could always create a guide as I imagine it might interest a few other people.

Hope this helps.

Red, thanks a lot for all the help! I will get some news when i start with this :p
And yes that thing about the swapping the IR for an RF system, work's i can share with you guys and that was done by a spanish mate ( user: _xabi_ ).

Cheers!

Hi Red.I've just bought a Jaguar key and was wondering how easy/difficult it is to swap the chips over?Any advice gratefully received!

It's in a rubber case in the Ford key and sits in a little recess in the jaguar key which from memory was a little awkward to get the jaguars blue chip out but with a bit of patience it's pretty easy and there's not time constraint to get it swapped over.

Hopefully this helps a little?

The chip is just a free standing glass tube.. i broke the jaguar one getting it out so you need to bit a little cautious there.
