I have the correct dipstick and I drained the car on flat ground then on a slight slope and then I jacked up the front of the car!

With a filter change!

After my last oil change I noticed that I struggled to put 4 litres of oil into my 1.7 litre engine. How much oil would you expect to stay in the engine after draining? Is this normal?

I’m just wondering if there may be another cause as I can’t see any leaks from the gasket

Obviously I’ve researched this and the most common reason is faulty cam cover gasket. It’s just mine seems bone dry and there’s no sign of leakage. Should I change it anyway?

I’ve just realised that after taking them from the main box, then the individual box that clearly states their PTR5A-10’s.....the plugs say BPR6EV. The cheeky EBay seller has tried to get one over on me! He’ll be getting a rather sternly worded message. So that’s cleared that up!

Wow, thanks. Are you sure they are not the same as the NGK PTR5A-10‘s because they are nothing like my Plugs.

I’ve got a Sylva J15 kit car with a 1.7 puma engine on bike TBs. I was told to get NGK PTR5A-10 plugs.....so I did....they are completely wrong! Which plugs should I be getting? Thanks in advance. X

Original sump, not come off the engine. I understand that the recommended amount is 4.62 litres but I can’t seem to get more than 4 in. I’ve put a spirit level on the engine to make sure it’s level! Does a fair bit on oil get left in the sump after draining?
