    My new car

Thanks for your replies. As you suggest, a test drive is the way forward. Hoping though the brakes will be better than my old 1999 Puma! I've also had a look at Honest John's review of used Mondeos. Hard to not get a bit spooked with the stories of clutch failures, turbo seal failures...

    My new car

Hi Dal I’m seriously thinking about a Mondeo TDCi (looking to ditch company car and buy myself something instead) The reviews I've read sound are fairly positive but this one wasn’t quite so good: http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/RoadTestsOnTheRoad/Ford-Mondeo-2.2-TDCi-ST-/212385/ The...

    Company car dilema

Scirocco looks great, but the car has to be practial enough to cart around kids, bikes and sailing & windsuring stuff - hence the estate. I've been reading around and the consensus is the eco 120 bhp Alfa is seriously under-powered. Angel Tuning can re-map it to about 150 mhp, but over £300...

    pumabuild servicing

I think PB have lost the way in recent years – maybe they’ve just grown a bit too big. I had a mediocre experience on my one and only visit there, back in the days when I owned a Puma. That said, I would have rather gone to PB over my local Ford main dealer even though it did mean taking a day...

    Company car dilema

Thanks for your replies. It's the 3-series 1.8 petrol BMW I am considering. I could go for the SE trim but though the M-Sport might be preferable over the SE since it has a few better seats, sports suspension and a few other niceties. My main concern over the Alfa is its lack of power...

    Company car dilema

Hi I’ve got a dilemma over ordering a new company car, which I need to do in the next couple of weeks. The company car policy here has changed such that we have to go through a single leasing company (we used to be able to shop around Leaseplan, Appleyards, Lloyds etc in order to get the best...

    Inconsiderate dog owners

There could be far worse things happening in the road that a dog turd, and I don't doubt the council/police have better things to be doing with their time. It just gets my goat why some dog owners have a total lack of responsibility

    Inconsiderate dog owners

Came out of my house this morning to find some inconsiderate arse hole of a dog owner had let their dog fowl right across my drive way :x Totally anti-social behaviour and I believe also an offence. What is it with some people?

howd u know when front bushes are knackered?

Mine used to make a clocking noise at low speed. You’d hear it as you pulled away. It had new bushes at PS and a service at PB but the noise was never fixed. PB didn’t actually test drive it until about 5pm as they’d spend all day doing cambelt/service/new shocks (plus 2 hours waiting foe a...

Mum's Ka - repair or chop?!

Hi Completely off topic but I’m after some thoughs on a possible new car for rmy mum. She’s currently got a V reg Ford Ka. She doesn’t drive much (prob less than 2000 a year) but because of a few niggles with the Ka she’s now thinking of chopping it for a new model. Her Ka only has about...

My puma cossie - few bits and bobs. (Very picture heavy!)

Looks great. Less impressed with the original electronics though. Is the yellow electricians' tape basically holding that chip in place?

    Tyre prices. Bloody Hell!

Out of interest, typically what's the attitude of the 'fast fit' tyre places to fitting customer supplied tyres? I guess they make most of their margin on supplying the tyres, so wonder how how much they charge to supply and balance a customer-supplied tyre, and how agreeable they are to doing...

    FRP #0201

Guess that's one of the perils of buying a second hand car - still, not a lot of choice if you want a FRP! At least now the work has been carried out (and assuming the work has been carried out to a high standard) you can be safe in the knowledge the engine's in A1 condition.
