It CAN be the battery... just because the engine turns over isn't enough to dismiss it..! If the battery voltage is borderline, there will be enough juice in it to power the starter motor and turn over, but then the coilpack isn't getting enough to provide a strong enough spark to make it fire up.

I was just about to write the same thing. 8) It's a never-ending dilema, and ultimately a pointless one. Enjoy the car for what it is, a peachy engine in a decent chassis. It'll still beat half of the stuff out on the roads if you feel the need.

Prob the battery, if it takes ages to 'catch' when turning over. If the battery is more than 3yrs old then it's goosed and time to replace.

The wheel Boss should come with an airbag light by-pass wire (basically a fused wire that clips into the airbag's previous connector)... at least mine did when I changed it, it was a MOMO boss & wheel.

The O2 sensor(s), when they die they stop sending a signal to the ECU and it overfuels... Only way of testing all this is to go to Ford and get them to do a diagnostic, or find someone with an OBD-II scanner (or buy one yourself)

Interesting... what bhp/torque gains did you see claimed for the chip and the bluefin, as a comparison? Seems a bit odd when Superchips claim it's the same map, just a different method of installation. Pumaspeed say: "On a Standard 1700cc engine this simple Pumaspeed ECU remap gave 8 bhp!"...

You won't necessarily gain more power over standard, but you'll minimise any losses from the old ignition gear, recouping any lost performance/power. At 10 years old, I'd say the leads are probably worth replacing Magnecor red KV85 leads (I'm running these) Possibly an MSD Coilpack (but not...

1.7 as the VCT makes all the diference to that extra 100cc capacity 1.6 if you want to go really mad tuning it to high power, it's easier to tune up without the VCT system
