    New, and need help.

That's what had to do when I replaced my boot struts - the new ones didn't have electrical continuity, so I had to join the top and bottom spade connectors with an insulated cable to get the boot brake light to work again.

    Non starter

May well just be the battery, mine tends to die every winter when the car is not driven for months.

    MoT pass!

Well done on the MOT pass! I had a job getting mine through, largely due to emissions - Cataclean and premium fuel helped. Did you have to do anything special to get it through?

    Brighter headlights?

So are you pleased with that? How much did it cost?

    Battery chargers

Does just ticking over charge the battery though? I'm sure I've been told that the car had to be moving. That may be a misunderstanding on my part!

    Battery chargers

Having had to replace my battery again (it also failed last winter), I realise that I'm just not driving the car often enough or for long enough to keep the battery charged. I have been advised to buy a trickle charger - it wouldn't be very convenient to use, as the car is parked in the...

    Brighter headlights?

I'm having the same trouble with yellowed headlights. I bought a cleaning kit from Amazon, it includes sanding discs, polishing discs and polishing liquid (to be used with a power drill). Frankly I'm terrified of trying it, in case I damage the headlights permanently, but the only alternative...

    MOT success!

I finally got my Puma 1.7 through its MOT - it would never have happened without the heroes from Pumashacked. They had to do all sorts to get it through, from replacing gaskets and hoses to sorting out the emissions problem it had failed on in the first place. I also got new headlight rubbers...

    More MOT woes

I've posted before about my problems getting my Puma Thunder through its MOT due to emissions problems. The heroes at Pumashacked took a look at it for me, and replaced the O2 sensor and sparkplugs. What with that and a dose of Cataclean, we hoped it would get through a retest. But no luck; we...

    Catalytic converter - still problems

Blimey. I can see why it's such a big job then. But surely someone else must have got this done? Why can't I find anyone wiling to take it on?

    Catalytic converter - still problems

Good tips, thanks. I like the one about adding another cat! Now, if only I could find someone locally who would have a clue how to go about it...!

    Catalytic converter - still problems

I've posted previously about my Puma 1.7 failing its MOT on emissions. The tester says it needs a new cat - I had some useful advice on this forum about possible alternative problems, but they're all beyond my ability to test. I tried a local exhaust specialist, only to be told that he couldn't...

    1.7 catalytic converter replacement

That's very insightful, thanks! I'm not up to doing any sort of mechanical work myself, but will pass this on to anyone who I can get to do it - and I'll remember the pre-MOT tips!

    1.7 catalytic converter replacement

Thanks for that, all very useful. Yes, the temperature gauge sits about in the middle when warmed up.
