Many thanks for confirming that the shorter bolt is still OK to use.

Using Gates Cambelt Kit KO35433XS, my mechanic says there is a discrepancy between old removed crankshaft bolt which has threaded portion 36mm long compared to the new bolt from kit which is only threaded for 28mm and he is reluctant to go ahead and use. Has anyone else had a similar problem...

Neither part number is listed for the Puma, although they both fit despite having shorter bodies than the recommended filters.

In my store of service items for various cars I have found a collection of new spin-on oil filters, do either of these suit my 2001 Puma 1.7 ? W712/21 Mann Oil Filter C104 Champion Oil Filter Many thanks.

My Puma's recent MOT had advisories for inner shoulder wear on both front tyres being close to the legal limit. Today I replaced both front tyres with more Rainsports and had a full wheel alignment carried out at the same time. They managed to get most of the measurements back within tolerance...

Unfortunately he lost his own uninsured Jag XJS that he was restoring for himself plus a customer's car that was in for service. All his tools and equipment are lost so he cannot even work as a mobile mechanic at the moment. He has maintained and restored my Pumas, MG's and Triumph classics...

Had to hurriedly find another MOT tester and put the Puma in without the service and pre-MOT inspection. Got an MOT pass but two Advisories as I had not spotted that both front tyres had inner shoulders worn very close to the legal limit.

Booked my Puma in for a service with my regular mechanic and then an MOT with my usual MOT Centre, both based on our local industrial estate. Next day - THIS ! Both my mechanic's workshop and the MOT Centre plus 40 other businesses destroyed in a major fire:
