    Filthy cars - Winter 13/14.

Gave it a good wash in November... not that you could tell anymore. From this morning: And from this afternoon:

    Winter Tyres + Steels

I'm probably going to need a set of winter tyres, so I thought I'd look at getting a set pre-fitted to steels delivered so I can just swap them myself (and back again in the spring). Was also thinking that doing this would allow me to use narrower tyres which should perform better in the snow...

    Coolant Replacement

So after my HCV exploded a couple months ago I have been running on around 70/30 water to coolant (I put around 2 litres of water in to replace what it had dumped on the road). I realise that this is probably terrible for the system but what can I say, I've been very lazy! :D However with the...

Heater Control Valve Pipe Sheared - Stuck at work!

Yeah, I pulled over halfway to check on it - the heat had caused the garden hose to go soft and so it had folded pretty tight so I had to make a splint out of a spanner and some zip ties to keep the circulation good :D . It didn't leak at all though. New HCV is in and I'll do a full coolant...

Heater Control Valve Pipe Sheared - Stuck at work!

Right then, thanks to a perfectly sized piece of garden hose I attached the pipes together: This is what I pulled out of the right pipe, incredibly brittle like it's made of sugar:

Heater Control Valve Pipe Sheared - Stuck at work!

The right hand coolant pipe sheared off a mile away from work this morning and pissed coolant all over my engine bay. I can source a new HCV soon enough but will it be ok to fill up with water and bypass the valve by connecting the coolant pipes together to get me home? I knew HCVs were a...

    MOT Failed

Picked it up today, it had failed with front anti-roll bar having excessive play in both offside and nearside ball joints, as well as excessively corroded brake pipes. Supposedly one brake pipe was so bad it crumbled to the touch, and they were surprised it was still even intact on the car...

    MOT Failed

Corroded rear brake pipes and some joint (I couldn't hear him properly!). Paying to have it fixed but he advised I get rid before the next MOT because the advisory list is long. :( Such a shame considering the low mileage (63k), but he said the underside is all very corroded. Will see how I...

Ford revives the Escort as a Shanghai-only concept

Not really a fan of anything chrome like that grill, but I think it would look nice in matte black! :pose2:

Ford revives the Escort as a Shanghai-only concept

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/04/20/ford-escort-concept-shanghai-2013/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I really like it, a real shame they have no plans to release outside of Shanghai - I'd definitely prefer one over a Focus/Mondeo.

    In car CCTV

If you have an android phone you can use some free apps like DailyRoads Voyager or AutoBoy Blackbox with a windscreen mount to make your phone into a dashcam. I assume there's probably something similar available for iPhone as well. You can set the maximum allotted video space and it will just...

Rusty Puma Arch replacement group buy - NO I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE AND I'M NOT DOING THIS AGAIN

Sent my extra owed amount. Thanks so much for doing this, I can see it's become a bit of a ball ache with all the exchange rates and paypal fees.

    Project Puma Flyers

Usually yeah. I know Google Goggles does it on Android, not sure if that's available for iPhone though.

It works like a bar code, but can be read by apps on smartphones using the camera. I assume it points to the website address, so when they scan it, it will direct the phone to http://www.projectpuma.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

    Fiesta Mk4/Mk5 Rear Beam

Sorry, I'm new to all this - does fork/eye refer to how the suspension is fitted to the beam? I'm told it's from a Zetec S which I think they only introduced with the Mk5. I have this photo I took after painting the underside if that helps: The beam is this one...

    Fiesta Mk4/Mk5 Rear Beam

Does anyone know if it's a straight swap for the puma or are the lengths slightly different?

    Sorting MOT Advisories

I unfortunately have no experience and no tools for any welding, so I guess I'll get them done when I'm having the new arches welded in (That's going to be an expensive day :'( ). I'll probably give the bushes a go myself when it gets a little warmer out. As for brake lines - I've realised...

    Sorting MOT Advisories

MOT is due in a few months so I thought it's probably time to start sorting the advisories from last years. Advisories are: 001 Nearside rear (inner sill) Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive [2.4.A.3] 002 Offside rear (inner sill) Suspension...

Juddering! Lots of work done= no fix :(

I had a similar issue which went away when I changed the spark plugs, but I was told the clutch pedal position sensor can cause it.
