    Catalytic converter - still problems

Advisories are faults that don't justify a fail. Fails are items that break the law. You can't get a fail downgraded to an advisory if its a legal item, like emissions. Any MOT tester would lose their licence doing so. Having said that, are you sure the figures he gave you match the "vehicles...

    Catalytic converter - still problems

Have you tried some Cataclean - get it from Amazon or Halfords - it works miracles on dirty cats. My Puma Black has a 4-2-1 stainless manifold and a 400 cell ceramic sports cat nowadays, but getting the standard cat and manifold off a 25 year old car is a royal PITA, Offside drive shafts out...

    Need more power !

Fitting an Audi RS3 engine into a Puma for less than a Duratec? Just an image to offer a clue that you may not know what you're talking about. Oh and by the way, its an in-line 5 cylinder. The block alone cost over £4K. Maybe you could post something of relevance sometime?

    Need more power !

Last time on the dyno, I was getting just over 130BHP at the wheels but a lot more torque (around 155f/lb) with the enlarged throttle body and full S/S exhaust and Sports Cat (JP Exhausts). The car is a 2001 so it had a DIVE ECU then which was a bit limiting. I later swapped out the DIVE for a...

    Need more power !

I'm guessing that like me, you love your Puma. I've had my Black since 2011 and sold a modded Porsche when a Puma driver who knew how to drive left me for dead around some twisty roads. I discovered why. It was torquey and light. My Puma became a lot more so when I stripped out the rear trim and...

    Need more power !

Could I suggest a reality check? You're looking to squeeze 180 to 200bhp from a car that's now over 21 years old at best that was designed to push out 160. While anything's possible if you throw money at it, wouldn't you be better if 200bhp is your goal, getting a Scubi or a Honda platform? The...

What fuel do you use? E10 or 99?

No "Dash Commander". What you see is the Torque App connected to a normal OBDII adapter. I think you misunderstand the function of an ECU. The ECU has a base map, also known as the "Limp Mode" Map. The Base Mode map is dynamically remapped by the engine sensors as the ECU scans them while the...

What fuel do you use? E10 or 99?

Have you actually looked at the sensor output? You'll see the fuel trim is constantly adjusting both ST and LT. based on the TPS and the intake temperature. The ignition advance is never constant. The MAF is reading the oxygen coming in, based on road speed (I have the FRP airbox mod with cold...

What fuel do you use? E10 or 99?

Not true. Modern ECU use their sensors to constantly re-map dynamically - even acording to how you drive. If you drive like a granny for half a day, the ECU will fall back to a conservative mode. Give it a blast and the engine will recover and remap to suit the driving mode. As I said elsewhere...

What fuel do you use? E10 or 99?

E5 allows the engine to be run more advanced and release more power and torque. Anyone old enough to remember the introduction of unleaded petrol in the UK will attest to the loss of power & drop in economy on cars (Like the Vauxhall Cavalier I had as a company car which had an ECU which could...

    AP coilover info.

I initially fitted Eibach ford-approved lowered springs back in 2012 to my 2001 Puma Black as the raised raise height on standard springs looked ridiculous. The Eibachs made the ride choppy and crashy - and not that much lower. A couple of years later, I had AP Coilovers fitted and slammed...
