Cheers guys, reason I asked about the Escort engine is there alot on eBay at very little money.

I am looking to build a 1.6 engine for my 1.4 puma, and have seen a 1998 ESCORT 1.6 16v ZETEC, am I right in thinking this is the same as a 1.6 puma engine and will fit? If not does anyone know what will need changing to fit?

I work for an engineering company and have been given materials at cost price and free use of the machinery, so I cost it at £60 with loads of satisfaction when its complete. Plus getting to CFD it at work too.

I am currently designing myself a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold for a 1.6, and just wondered if anyone knew the diameter of the exhaust ports and the offset of the ports? Cheers Joe

Hi guys, Whats the best way to clean a brake caliper up that is rusty/dirty? Currently got them soaking in vinegar, but is it worth the money to get them shot blasted? Or has anyone tried the hammerite rust remover? Cheers Joe

Just wondered Steve, did you do any calculations for that defusser? Looks good but I just wondered if it was causing more drag than it was before as the car doesnt have a flat floor would help cause this a bit. Also the hole around the exhaust would disturb the air flow. Least I learnt...

Yes, the white I encoutered on the lonsdale belt was awful, put the damper up through the turret top and then managed to rearrange the tank guard to something unrecognisable! I will look at the Box section then, sounds easy enough

Olly, It depends on what rallies you enter, but most rallies just class you by engine size (doesnt matter what mods you have), so you would mainly be in the 1400-1600 class. But some of the bigger national rallies split that into whether the car is built to International rules or the MSA rules...

Olly, It has to be MOT'sd but if only doing doing Single Venue (multi use) it doesnt need tax or insurance. If you are doing perspex windows, film isnt needed, its only with glass that it is needed. I havent done the brakes on mine yet, but the Mondeo mk2 V6 brakes seem popular or even Fiesta...
