    Battery being drained overnight

No, but 'everyone' online and speaking to verbally said it was unlikely to be that. Methinks it was...

    Battery being drained overnight

That's why I'm wondering how the car needed jumpstarting every other day. Bizarre

    Battery being drained overnight

Well, I got the starter motor back yesterday and reinstalled in into the car. The car hasn't been drained since the last post and I have driven it each day. It starts on the button every morning, various short runs through the day and then tucked up for 12 hours each night. Really strange...

    Battery being drained overnight

it seems the fuse has blown on my multimeter, so it's not giving a reading. Annoyingly, it needs a 250ma glass fuse...not a regular feature in halfords or B&Q. No other shops nearby, so it's going to be an online order. The general consensus is that my sparking starter motor is a coincidence...

    Battery being drained overnight

Well, I've attached the multimeter as instructed. There is 12.75 volts running between the battery terminals, and 12.54 volts between positive terminal and positive lead. I split the positive lead to see if it was one lead in particular, and it is the main lead that is giving the voltage...

    Battery being drained overnight

Sorry, Ian - a little thick. Do you mean measure the current between the positive battery lead (when disconnected) and the positive terminal of the battery itself? And it's the starter motor that's sparking, not the alternator - could this still mean it's the alternator?

    Battery being drained overnight

Hi all, My car didn't start last Tuesday, just a loud click. Used jumpleads and the car fired into life, then was good for a couple of days. Left it for 24 hours, and car just gave a single loud click again. Was advised that my battery's charge was a little low (12v when idle, 14v when...

Car not starting, but battery is fine

Don't worry (not that I think anyone was!), I found the answer on here anyway. Starter motor replaced and back in car. Really lumpy drive when I took it for a run - then plugged in lead to MAF and it drove like it should (prat).

Car not starting, but battery is fine

Okay, so I've discovered that there are two different types of starter motor available: a 0.8kw and 1.1kw. Does it matter which I go for, are they any different other than the power?

Car not starting, but battery is fine

No dials sweeping, and now that I've removed it I can see that the braided wire from solenoid to motor is competely corroded and actually broke away as I got it out. Unless that's an additional issue, I guess that's the problem. I did a bodge while it was out of the car to join the braided...

Car not starting, but battery is fine

Hi All, I've had a scout round on here to see similar symptoms, so I hope this isn't a repeat of what's already on here...! Drove the car yesterday afternoon, all good. Went to take it out last night, and nothing. Have checked battery strength, no issues. Even jump-started and had no...

New HCV - now no heat from blowers

I hate following a post to discover the OP hasn't given an update...so here it is! It's fixed. It was an airlock, the blowers are now nice and hot (and cold!), and the rad has even heat throughout. Thanks all for the assistance - back on the road again!!
