In search of the P reg puma

There were some N plate prototypes on the road but all went for destruction, well almost all! They were pre production and used for engine development, colour development and such like. I have some interior panels with 'prototype panel' printed on them, they are thinner plastic than the...

    Rear Arch Rust Success?

The inner and outer arch were bonded in production and not welded. The inner arch lip is usually rusted to nothing and needs replacing with new metal. This can only really be done in sections, welded in a bit at a time, unless you have a very good panel beater/sheet metal worker to make a new...

    Pistons!

The 1.7 has not got liners, nikasil is a plating process that protects the aluminium. They can be repaired http://www.langcourt.com/page27.html The 1.4 and 1.6 have steel liners, all engines start with the same block.

Are rally snow tyres illegal on the roads?

tungsten tipped tyres are only meant for use on ice and snow, they give as much grip as a standard tyre on tarmac, the problem is that the tungstens are ripped out of the tyre as soon as you drive on tarmac. To buy tungsten tipped tyres would be a waste of money imo and you could be facing a...

    Inner Arches Rusted Through!

No its not! Quick fix and the rust will come back, WORSE! The outer wing does not weld to the inner wing, it is bonded (which comes off!) The only real way to fix this problem is to cut out the rot and replace with new metal, and seam seal the inside lip then stonechip and underseal. Also waxoil...

    Inner Arches Rusted Through!

206 wing is the best option. I did this repair on my car, the inner arch lip was rotten so had to fabricate a new lip and weld in, fold up the 206 wing and run seam sealer across the join then stone chip and underseal. No more water getting in.

    Cambelt: Visual Check?

Visual check may show any signs of fraying on the edges or cracks in the belt but the majority of cambelt failures are caused by bearing failure which you cant see. The bearing is a sealed unit and only lasts so long, hence the service intervals. Best option is to change 10k earlier than...

    Rough Price for arch repair

The filler doesnt, its the rust behind that expands causing the filler to crack. I have just done the arches on an R reg 1.4 using the Peugeot front wing method and they look great. The previous owner had done the filler option and they were in a really bad way, also if its a patch up job then...

    body panels??

I had to do the same thing, cut out and splice in new metal and rewelded the brake pipe tab back on. Take out the rear inner arch or pressure wash it out regular to stop it happening. Not tried Ford for panels but that piece will not be available.
