    I think my Cat died!

So I fixed the heater matrix pipes, added coolant and had a bowl under the engine for a couple of days. Still dripping coolant from somewhere but quite minimal. However, today I find no coolant in the tank, I add some water and it streams out from a 12mm nut under the engine. I've attached a pic...

    I think my Cat died!

Ok. If I scrap it at ASM (Main scrap dealer) I'd prob get £100. What's alterniative? Put it on AutoTrader for scrap/repair for £200? If I take it to ASM what bits could I take off and sell on ebay? Thanks

    I think my Cat died!

Felt and heard a rattling noise as I pushed the accelerator down. Got to top of traffic lights. Engine smoking. On red so thought I would turn off the engine for a couple of mins. Go green - wouldn't start. AA arrived an hour later. Car now starts as cooled down. Drove it round the corner to a...

ABS + Traction Control lights staying on

Hi, So the other front ABS sensor has been done! That's another 140 quid gone. The garage happened to mention that if they were to MOT to then they would fail on the front brake pads and one of the back bushes! My cat is 14 years old and I'm beginning to think its on its last legs! I'm sure...

ABS + Traction Control lights staying on

Took it to the garage to have the front right abs sensor changed. It'd been on there since new so was corroded in so good job I didn't attempt myself. They had to use the gas gun to get it all out. Put the new sensor on and lights offs! hooray! 50 miles down the road I hear the abs doing its...

ABS + Traction Control lights staying on

Took the cat to a different garage. This time they didn't have some old laptop with the Ford Fiesta sw. It was a Bosch handheld thingy and he had the Ford Puma sw on it. Turns out it is the sensor on the front right. They can provide and fit a cheap sensor for £75 or the more robust one for...

ABS + Traction Control lights staying on

Well the lights are still on! The MOT is approaching!! One garage couldn't connect to the ABS module and stated that the module is buggered, they cost £800 so the car is a write off! Any truth in this? He was using Ford Fiesta software on his laptop. Off to another garage next Sat for another...

ABS + Traction Control lights staying on

Hi, Thanks for the info. Will check the fuse. Anyone point me to some pictures of where/how to change sensors, etc? Thanks Staro

ABS + Traction Control lights staying on

Hi, My ABS + Traction Control lights are staying on! Is this likely to be a sensor problem or something more costly? Would a MOT tester fail the car? I can only remember one instance in the last 13 years where I need ABS. As for Traction Control, I wouldn't know if it was working or not...

    Front brake pipe repair

Hi. I had an MOT advisory last year for a heavily corroded front brake pipe. Does anyone know roughly how much this should cost to replace? Would Kwik Fit do it? I've only done 2000 miles since the last MOT but I think I need it doing as the rear brake pipe did break and was replaced a couple...

    Stuck bonnet!!!

Got a cable from ASM Recycling for £18. Neighbour and I fitted it within an hour so not as bad as I thought it was going to be! Hardest bit was getting the rubber grommet plug to fit securely in the hole between the engine and dashboard. Hope this helps other folk who get the same problem.

    Stuck bonnet!!!

I've unclipped about a quarter of the cable and tried to get oil into it. Not much room to squirt the oil down. However, in many parts the cable has lost its plastic covering and the metal underneath is very rusty. I don't think its worth salvaging, so I'll spend a few more weeks trying to find...

    Stuck bonnet!!!

I've got until late March so I'll keep looking. Don't like the sound of 'a bonnet that cannot be safely secured in the closed position'. I do have to use the pliers again to pull the bonnet cable the other way or the bonnet won't close properly! Cheers Staro

    Stuck bonnet!!!

I'm not sure I want to pay out £130 or £20 plus a couple of hours messing about with it myself. A pair of pliers is working well rather than the orange plastic handle. I take it that this is ok to pass a MOT? Thanks Staro
