    ABS fault light

    Thanks all!

    ABS fault light

Thanks red, that is what I am hoping. It would be rather awkward arriving for the MOT with the warning lights on!

    ABS fault light

My Puma has been parked off the road for over a year now since the last MOT expired, and I have periodically started it up and run it until running temperature was reached. Each time I’ve done this, all the dash warning lights have behaved normally. The other day, I thought it would be a good...

    Front subframe dimension required

Whilst replacing the front lower wishbones on my 1.7, I found that the front bolt hole for the offside bush was elongated by about 3mm. This was almost certainly caused by the bolt becoming loose in the past, although it was tight when I took it all apart. I intend to weld a small plate over the...

Fuel Leaking from Hose Between Filler Neck & Tank

I have just had to replace the hose on my Puma, because it was turning to jelly, although not actually leaking. The internal diameter was 42mm, which appears not to be a standard size, so buying some online or from my local spares shop was unsuccessful. I eventually bought a secondhand one off...

    Puma Production Line

I’d be interested to know at which stage of production was the rust installed?

    Heat shield fixings

Thank you! I will make yet another special tool to unscrew them.

    Heat shield fixings

I have to remove some of the exhaust heat shields in order to replace the offside rear brake pipe. Do the fixings unscrew, or are they pushed onto the studs? They appear to be in good condition, so I would prefer not to destroy them!

    Fuel tank

Well, I successfully removed the tank, as I have to do some welding and grinding in that area. Not too bad a job apart from undoing the hose clips on the filler and breather hoses. It would appear that I have been lucky, in that the the tank is still serviceable - just! Whereas the underside...

Removing the Bonnet Plunger from Ford Puma (Fiesta MK4)

I’ve just investigated the switch on my own Puma, as I have the same problems as you. The switch is a very snug fit in the slam panel, but you should be able to wiggle it upwards and out using a small flat screwdriver. There are two small metal clips which fit into grooves on the switch body...

    Fuel tank

    That’s great, thank you!

    Fuel tank

I am about to remove the fuel tank from my 2000 1.7 because I will be welding very close to that area, and I’m not yet ready for my celestial wings! The tank will be inspected before refitting, and I’m not expecting any problems with it, but I wondered if it was the same as a Fiesta tank if it...

Cambelt - due for a change!!

The gasket that I bought was around 10mm too short, and wouldn’t stay in it’s groove. I tried sticking it with Hylomar, leaving it to cure overnight with masking tape holding it in place before fitting it to the engine, but it obviously didn’t work. £23 down the drain!

Cambelt - due for a change!!

Well, I started the engine for the first time since replacing the cam belt, and it didn’t go bang (hooray!), but there was a massive oil leak from the back of the engine (boo!). This was caused by the new cam cover gasket being displaced due to it being undersized, possibly having shrunk in...

Cambelt - due for a change!!

Yes, it was a new bolt, part of the Gates cambelt kit that I bought.
