    2001 Red Puma 1.7

I have decided reluctantly to sell my Puma. I bought the car last September with a view to keeping it long term and using it for a few shows and events which I did this year and the car attracted a lot of attention due to condition. Please see below for all the details and photos: 2001 - 51...

Heater fan speed not working on "1"

Thanks Red, I'll do a bit more checking with the wiring and the contacts in the switch to see if it is something that is fixable without needing to renew it. As you say, there isn't a lot to it. Cheers

Heater fan speed not working on "1"

OK guys, thanks. Will probably leave the indicator stalk then and just put up with it as I don't feel confident in removing the steering wheel with the airbag etc. With the heater, when you say the heater panel, do you mean the actual switch or something else? Cheers

Heater fan speed not working on "1"

Not sure if this has been covered before but the heater will only work on 2,3 and 4, I have had the switch apart and everything looks OK with nothing broken but still wont work. Is this something to do with the resistor under the dash or possibly something else? Also, the indicator wont cancel...

    2001 1.7 - my new project

Barry Yes mate, I gather you're in Huddersfield. I was reading your Project Puma thread the other day and that's what set me off to do mine to be honest. I've wanted one for a long time and there are so many shabby ones that, when I saw this, i thought I would take the plunge. I always have...

    2001 1.7 - my new project

When I say new, I've actually had the car since last September, but I've only just got it pretty much how I want it to be for some fun in the Spring and Summer and maybe attend a few shows. The car has had one lady owner from new (for some reason, the dealer registered it in his name as...

Engine Servicing for your PUMA. Cambelt, seals, etc

Chris has just finished a full engine refresh on my 2001 1.7 Puma, including new clutch and some new suspension bits and pieces. Drove it back home on Sunday and it felt just like new. He also had the car MOT'd for me whilst he had it, so that was great and saved me a job this week. If you...

Steel wheels to fit the Puma

    Thanks, I'll try that option.

Steel wheels to fit the Puma

I've got a couple of winter tyres that will fit the Puma (15") so I was wondering if anybody knew of any steel Ford rims that would fit rather than having to swap the Summer tyres from the alloys. Cheers

Fitted new battery - now it wont start

UPDATE Well, the day I was due to take the car down to Chris, the fuse blew again and it wouldn't start :x Called the RAC and the guy banged the bottom of the tank a few times, replaced the fuse and it started first twist, but there was obviously some underlying fault so he followed me to my...

Fitted new battery - now it wont start

Frank Thanks for that advice, I'm planning to have the engine fettled by Chris Allison in the coming weeks; new belts , tensioner, seals etc. so I'll ask him to change the fuel filter as part of the work. Also noted about not letting the fuel level drop too low. Cheers

Fitted new battery - now it wont start

Hopefully sorted it! The fuse had blown; replaced it and started first twist  Just hoping it was a coincidence that it was the fitting of the new battery that caused it to blow and not something more sinister, so i'll have to see if it pops again and, if so, investigate further. Once...

Fitted new battery - now it wont start

I'll check the fuse and relay and, if I cant get a result from that, I'll try the live wire method to check the power supply to the pump. It might have to be Saturday due to work and dark nights :-( Thanks again for all the advice. It never fails to amaze me how much knowledge there is out...

Fitted new battery - now it wont start

UPDATE I tried it with the booster but it made no difference. The fuel cut off switch seems to be OK. I assume the red button should be pressed in when its working as this is how it is now. When I try and press it down further, its solid, so assume its pressed down as far as it will go. What I...
