    The £650 Puma

The bumper bar was pretty bent before the accident; Personally, and with all feelings aside, I'd be looking at taking the settlement, finding a better example and then stripping all the good bits off of Jegger. The engine's got the VCT problems and still needs a cambelt, the ABS is flaky at...

Jegger the jinx... Will wait with baited breath but at the very least he'll be a good source of spares!

    The Swift (not a caravan)

So, why no updates on this? Basically because I've had absolutely nothing that's needed doing to it. My total non-fuel costs have totalled just under £70 - new wipers, a replacement interior bulb and an aircon recharge. Other than that, it hasn't needed any oil or even screen wash. I just get in...

    MR2 - Bargain basement

There's been quite a bit of work going on with the cheapy MR2, but keeping two threads going for the same car on two forums is getting a bit dull. The whole thing with new progress is now here - http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=63117 if you have any interest! :-D I think you...

And de-rust I did! The rear of the sills looked worryingly rough and I'd been putting off attacking it with a screwdriver. The picture actually flatters the area... However, I needn't have worried, a wire brush and a hefty screwdriver found no holes, and both rear sill areas were...

    MR2 - Bargain basement

MR2 day today. This morning, I cracked on with the sump change. The old one was leaking quite impressively as it was rotten. First I drained the oil.... what little there was of it.... It's been leaking a while I guess! Then I spun a new oil filter on. Sump came off with some puffing and...

Important things first - Flickr! Secondary - Yep, going to fill the inside with Dynax and then the outside I'm going to cover with heat-reflective tape where the exhaust crossed below it. THe rest of the old subframe was fine so I'm not going to worry about painting the outside. My theory is...

I think his real name is more mundane judging by the PayPal name, but he seems to respond to Dick.

Still cracking along! I managed to get three of the four arms off of the scrap subframe - bushes all in fine fettle. The fourth ripped the centre out of the bush before the bolt would come free, so a quick chat to Dick Sloan (fab name) and a replacement arm was dispatched. All arms now painted...

Spares are not a problem in fact - I heavily researched it before I bought the car. You can still buy the cross member from your local Toyota garage. It's north of £300 but in reality, that's not so bad. As for it appearing in 1000 miles, I suspect it's been pretty bad for the last 3 years...

It's a real Achilles heal on these. The spot where it's rusted through is exactly where the Cat' sits on the car so it gets super-heated. The whole rest of it is solid as you like!

    MR2 - Bargain basement

Right, well it was an utter &@%## to remove, but the sub frame did come off. It's not in a good way! Can't get this repaired so I'm going to look in to buying a new one. Not sure whether to even bother trying to remove the arms from it! They don't even move in their bushes so it looks like...

    MR2 - Bargain basement

That would be Dick Sloan at a guess - He reckoned decent replacements were few and far between and couldn't help, but there's a few about with other sellers. I'm going to see if the existing one can be welded first to save a bit of money and get it road-worthy again. Then I can find a decent...

She's very understanding indeed, and I did do the full 'are you sure it's OK?' first. She was fine with it. Says it's just my thing!

Let's hope it is a bargain - tracking down a cross member is not going to be easy unless I fork out on a new part - £350-ish. Still, I'm in no rush. Ultimately, breaking it should recoup the purchase price very easily, although I don't think it'll come to that. It's a nice little thing though!

Yeah, they look a bit lairy in the photos! They are more a burgundy in the flesh. As for the middy collection - yes, although I think most other cars with the configuration are a bit pricier! Certainly,a windfall would put a S1 Lotus Elise on the driveway.

    MR2 - Bargain basement

Well, after making a grown up decision earlier in the year to cut down on my project car habits, I've just gone and bought another one. I have history with Toyota MR2s having had 2 mk1's years back. When a stricken MOT-fail mk3 popped up for sale in my Gumtree alerts just 2 miles away, I...

Tell me about it! I've still got the shaky hands and a fecked shoulder. Worth it though!
