50, nope 0, nope 50 again

As i was driving along my speedo decided to drop to 0, then back up to 50, then back down a couple of times before acting normal again. Any ideas?

Sounds like your speedo cable is either broken, loose or about to be broken or loose. Did all the other dials; rev counter, fuel etc, stay ok?

Mine drops to 0 very occasionally.

Found it's because the needle gets a bit temperamental. Give it a tap and hey-presto.

Yours does sound like the cable though acting up though.

Everything else was ok. It didnt jutter or anything, it dropped very quickly, but very smoothly. Been fine since, a mate of mine said his mondeo used to do it every now and then, and lack of use was a culprit.
